My retarded brother made his own bathroom in our moms garage and I never got a good look at it till he moved out and I came over

either use more caulk or replace the entire thing with a standalone shower setup with walls

Looks like the drywall is blistering. Seems like he used normal drywall (not rated for water) instead of green drywall (meant for shower applications).

At the minimum, you're looking at demo and replacement of the drywall behind the shower, possibly the whole thing. Also needs an exhaust fan, fo sho.

Nm about the exhaust fan, one in the light fixture (as long as it's actually hooked up to an exhaust vent - you need to check). Seems like it's all the drywall, including the ceiling. Probably just cheaped out on it.

Don't put any drywall in the shower unless you're going to add a plastic surround.

Walls were not sealed properly against water, water damage is very severe. You have to demo the whole thing and start over, or you can continue but it's gonna be awfully moldy and icky in there.

I am going to swing by there either today or tomorrow, but the thing is that those panels are not drywall, they are some kind of hard plastic though I am unsure if they are stuck to drywall behind them or not

those walls are frp not drywall you retards. this board is so full of the opposite of knowledge its not even worth it sometimes

looks like it was just glued on something?
that material on foam board attached to strapping drilled into the wall is about the best youll get with water and vapor barriers.
green sheetrock is not water resistant. its mold/sag resistant.
a shower will always need a watertight surround

it looks maybe glued to plywood looking at the ceiling?
this is not that poorly done, other than the bubbling
was there a drain in your moms garage tied in to your plumbing? wheres the toilet flush to?

If that is FRP on green board then literally you just need to seal the corners up and make sure that vent actually vents outside and not into the crawlspace and it would work just fine. most of the retards here live with their parents or in apartments and have never had to build anything with their hands in their lifetimes

reminds me of a japanese apartment shower
I'm sure nothing was caulked, and that it's quite mildewy.
The saving grace is that it appears nothing was actually secured so it's easy to demo and probably breathed reasonably well.

Green board isn't "rated for water" it's just mold resistant.

That ain't plastic, the way it's bubbling. Could be some weird thin plastic veneer (like a car wrap) over OSB or something like that. I'd pull all that shit out for the reason it might holding water against the studs or drywall of the opposite wall. Then you're looking at a real PITA repair.

About the only actual confirmed issue here is that the brother used dude wipes instead of real toilet paper.
