I live in a hot and humid as fuck area where no air flows in the bedroom.
I often work nightshifts so i often start sleeping at 6-7am when the temperatures gradually become hotter.
I have this old ass italian portable AC w split 9000btu with no timer no remote just push button = it works, off it doesn't. Works fine but it consumes a fuckton of electricity so i can't use it for 8 hours straight in the night and gotta keep it off, which often results in me waking up 3 hours later in a pool of sweat.
I want to install this mono AC (9000Btu) on my own, the internal unit and external unit would be basically at the same place, just a wall inbetween. Saw some youtube guides but it seems to be different from AC to AC.
Where should i look for as an absolute beginner?

Buy vacuum pump, maybe flange tool, that's it. All split units install the same way, barring the overpriced "diy-friendly" ones.

Do not use a janky ass IOT garbage "smart" plug or anything like that, wire a proper thermostat to the unit instead so the temperature is consistent.
Either way he should be covering up his windows with aluminum foil and insulation if he wants to save money as opposed to short cycling his AC so it breaks on him in two years.

I insulated the windows with a thick XPS and they close with wooden shutters all the way thru. A small hole in the XPS to pass the small tube between the ext unit and the internal, it is insulated, but this is an old house that gets heated fast.
For now i bought one of these to control the time it stays on, it's better than nothing.

I don't know how to wire a thermostat to a portable splitted AC.

This is the AC btw. Delchi Ariele Due.

If all you want is timing then this >>2929346 is fine. These things only pull around 600-1000W anyway, probably shouldn't melt.
>thermostat
It just has Common, NO and NC contacts, you plug live wire from wall into NC, plug the AC unit's live into Common. NO should be the "on if colder" and NC usually the "off if colder" contact but it can also be in reverse, if it is then you just reverse it as well.

Similar question for people. I have an old mini split that keeps dying because the weather proofing is shit and the boards keep blowing when it gets humid and slugs craw in it. The warrantee expired this year and it needs replaced. Is there any chart or reference material if I want to keep the existing indoor units the same and just replace the outside unit?

Are you pretty much expected to just buy straight from china if you need a blower motor replacement? If I buy now Summer will be almost over when it gets to me.

Cheap mini splits are never designed for partial replacement. If you can get the same unit or a very similar unit from the same manufacturer, it should be possible, but it's gonna void your warranty so I'd assume no HVAC company will do it. But you should ask a HVAC company if they do something like that, just expect that the answer will very likely be "no". It's also possibly more expensive than just buying a whole new unit, considering that they have to fuck with the charge gas.

Yeah, but if you want something that's genuinely not jank, buy from an industrial or at least specialized electrical supplier. But the not janky ones will probably look more spooky and will have screw terminals instead of a socket.

thats about what I am looking at. Reinstalling seems easy except replacing one of the lines that goes to the opposite side of the house seems aids since my craw space isn't a crawl space and more of a 6 inch gap. If they use the same copper line diameter I should be able to just vacuum the existing line and reuse it right? If not I will have to pay $300 just for an extra hose

For that price you could replace the split every year for a new one and still save money over ten years lmao

if you just want it for your bedroom you could get a standing portable ac unit and pipe it out the window. You can get one for around $100 on fb marketplace. I've done this in multiple places cus I like it cold to snuggle

I used to have one just like that and aside from the cold air if you stood in front of it and the much higher power bill it didn't change the room much.
This especially because it is badly insulated, and since the ac creates a vacuum the hot air inevitably gets back as soon as i turn it off. I have this >>2929345 but it's hungry for power (1.2kw/hr with no inverter) the best soluton i have now is that i put a plug timer into it so it turns on 30 minutes and off 30 minutes, but now my room just jumps from cold to hot. I'll be getting a thermostat soon.

In EU anything not blatantly sold from Aliexpress is good enough, any electronic supplies online store should have decent ones around $20. Then the cheaper brand name ones are like ETI, but that already costs about $50 at least.
>>2930521
>hot air inevitably gets back as soon as i turn it off
No, it gets back while it's running. These units have to be two-ducted to actually work, such that it pulls air from the outside to cool itself, and pushes it out again.

It's up to you, just test it and see what feels comfortable enough. More important is where you put the thermostat's temp sensor, it should not be in direct stream of the cold air from the machine. Somewhere around 22-24 for the OFF trigger should be okay.
