Took up the project to cast my own horseshoe from silver. Not those bullshit little trinkets and earrings but a full-sized wall hanger. In the process of this, I left the excess metal to cool in the furnace with the crucible. It had already solidified and took the shape of the flask mouth, so I just left it there.
When cooled overnight, it had an almost vivid crystalline surface pattern. Its happened twice now and after 'consulting' AI it said I need a gradual cooling of 40C/hr to do something similar. Now the idea is to cast my own bar that glitters because Ive never seen it for sale understandably. Pretty sure if it works you could get a finish that resembles Osmium jewelry. It wouldnt have the color or texture but its nontoxic and just a style of finish, no machining needed.

All metals have crystal structures and various rates of cooling forms different ones, that's how steel hardens when you quench it, the quick rate of cooling grows a specific type of structure.

Large crystals like that aren't rare or anything, you see it commonly in galvanized steel and just like that zinc plating your silver will tarnish and become dull over time.

You have to explain the obvious to people who can't rotate the apple. This guy thought he discovered some new form of silver.
