I installed a water line for this 20 year old fridge so the ice maker would work.
The ice maker was never hooked up previously.

It's been installed for 48 hours and it won't make ice. There's no buttons on the unit, I've verified that water is making it to the water fitting on the fridge, and the water line in the fridge isn't frozen because it's outside on the back.

Any ideas how to diagnose this?

There appears to be come kind of electronic valve at the bottom by the water inlet, and there's a 6 pin electronic plug behind the ice maker that goes idk where.

Is there a filter? I wonder if it could be blocked up somehow from disuse. Maybe even capped off or something since the ice maker was never used before?

Most ice makers are "dumb" - they don't know if water is hooked up or not. The solenoid that controls the water is also noisy. To avoid 20 years of buzzing every 90 minutes someone probably either unplugged the unit or tied/blocked the ice-bin sensor so the system thinks its full.

fuck if I know.

my ice maker stopped working but.....

my water is nasty anyways so I make cubes manually with the Good Water.

I store frozen water bottles of old various size plastic soda bottles in the icemaker and use those for beer in ice chest.

Sometimes my ice maker will get stuck. Take the plastic cover off the front and you will see some plastic gears. Rotate them to get it moving again.

Also as the other anon said make sure the arm is down fully.

pull the cover off
if it has holes with l, t, v, ect jump the L to V connections and see if it fills. if it does your icemaker needs to be replaced. If it doesnt the inlet valve at your water connection is shot. Regardless at 20 years if the IM has been running dry its gunna be shot so replace that and inlet if it isnt getting water
If it has a gear rotate it a quarter inch clockwise with a flathead, check if it fills after 2 minutes rotation.2jsvd

Could be the water line that goes to the ice maker froze up when the new water ran through it. Would just have to either defrost the freezer or run a hair dryer over this part to warm it up.

Had something similar happen when I had my water supply turned off for a few days.
