Do you think I can really get a refurbished monarch 10EE for a reason able price? I'm about to get an inheritance, its about roughly $43,333.33. Monarch has a program or whatever that restores peoples old 10ee lathes for $25-40k.

Psh yeah he should totally spend it on a car or 10 hookers and blow. Not a timeless piece of machinery that will still be able to make saleable parts long after OP is dead.

What will you be making on this completely refurbished toolroom quality lathe? Do you have any experience running a lathe? Any particular reason a normal run of the mill quasi-worn out metal lathe won't do what you need it to do? Most people get hung up on precision like they will need to hit ten thousandths on the regular for everything and that's just not the case in reality.

If it's your business and you're gonna make all that money back working the lathe full time then whatever but everyone I know gets a cheap old lathe and fixes it up, or get a membership at a makerspace that has one.

TOS, it's not as cheap in the US though. I have a used SN32 that I got for 2k, brand new it costs around 20k in Europe. Maybe $25k in US.

It's an awesome lathe. I've only run relatively worn examples but they are really good. That being said, holy fuck I wouldn't get one for $25-40k. That price is pretty insane.

nta but I've heard pretty consistently good things about Precision Matthews, especially the higher-end fully Taiwanese ones.

Blowing your 45k inheritance on a fucking lathe, you are legitimately retarded. If you could afford to spend 45k on a lathe you would have done it before you got free money. Invest it
