What are some good sources for fasteners in Canada? I've tried the usual suspects: Canadian tire, lowes, rona, but none of them have what I need. Even bolts-plus doesn't have it in stock. Are there any other good places to get miscellaneous fasteners? I'd like to avoid paying international shipping if possible.

Specifically I'm looking for something like pic related. M8-1.25x20mm, with some kind of black finish. It's for a structural component in my car which is also visible to the passengers, so I'd like it to blend in, hence the black finish. It doesn't need to be torx, but it should have a similar head shape. I think it's a truss head, since the diameter is around 17mm, bigger than standard M8 button heads. I don't wanna buy from scamazon since it's for a structural application and I want to make sure the steel is good.

Also feel free to have a general discussion on sourcing hardware/fasteners.

Never heard of them before, but their prices seem a bit steep. The link you posted shows a price of $67.49 for a pack of 20. I managed to find the same listing through their website's search, the only difference being the price is $95.16 for the same 20 pack.

Yeah I don't think trusting these guys is a good idea. The whole site seems a bit shady.

I found out Grainger has a Canadian division, but all they've got is stainless or zinc plated, no black oxide. I might have to suck it up and deal with the colour mismatch or bite the bullet and order from mcmaster carr. I'll keep monitoring the thread and posting anything else I find.

go into a brick and mortar real auto parts store(not autozone etc)/industrial supplyhouse/engine rebuilder and talk to the counter guy. more than likely theyll have an avenue to order from

there's usually fastener supply shops in industrial areas that carry a larger selection than online. that's where I get replacements for my rustbox car.
