If you look closely type C, E, and F are interchangeable with a schucko plug and the rest is never seen in Europe anyway

>plugging a 230/240v device into a 110v outlet
>plugging a 15A device into a 10A outlet
>plugging an earthed/metal framed device into a non-earthed outlet
>prevent plugging a device in upside down, sideways or other

Can't tell from the chart if the type I is the bigger 50 amp 220v plug available in the US, but that sucker gets my vote for 220V style plugs. And type B for everything 110v.

Type L is clearly there best and I don't understand why it isn't used in real countries.

B, H, I, K, N look to be possibly installed upside down or have a design rationale that is foreign to me. Isn't gravity the reason why the ground lead is always situated at the top, since things fall downwards meaning things that do fall into the gap while the connection is made or undone are more likely to become grounded first and not just live.

B is historically installed as depicted but more recent code suggests flipping it upside down for the reasons you describe.

and sometimes it's sideways.

There's also the classic case of "ground at the top means it's connected to a switch" for older houses without ceiling lights

Ungrounded sockets are still quite common in Norway.

They were allowed to be installed in so called dry enviroments up until the 2000s.

Australian plug is top tier, the british one is also pretty good and overcomes the main problem with the aus plug, bent prongs except it's unaesthetic. The aus one also has a switch which isn't apparently standard everywhere

B is just 'murricans and electricity but the recess on HKN or insulated pins on I mean the plug has to be far enough out the connection is broken first. Interestingly, the Chinese version of I lacks the insulation so is installed upside-down.

Yeah but I hate the shape of our switches. Slippery little lozenge shape that your finger constantly slips off of in the dark. The Brit switches are better, big flat see-saw paddle.

Yuro plugs are gay and huge. You get 1 outlet per box in most cases. I have a newer home and I have 4 boxes in every room, which is 8 plugs total. Per room. Yuropoor homes you get maybe 2 boxes per room and that's 2 plugs per room.

Thats a point and pretty fucked. Never thought about it. Only super old houses in america have two or less plugs per room. And even still each one is really two plugs. Modern houses are like one or two per wall. They still seem safer with the lips on the socket and sometimes a plastic lip on the plug tongs so you cant touch a half plugged in outlet. Idk where specifically each plug is used. Theres so many.

The huge ones are bri'ish anon, they are huge because of their retarded wiring that needs a fuse in every plug.

You do know that if you want to, you could put whatever number of outlets you want?

because they were developed independently in a time before worldwide communication was fast and many types of work were not yet standardised

which is a shame, because most of the world never gets to enjoy the mastery of Type I

japan still has multiple electrical grids for this reason, in the east they use 50Hz and in the west they use 60Hz.
