Has anyone seen these sorts of window locks before and know how to remove them? They are in the windows of my apartment to prevent the windows from opening too wide so boomers don't fall out. I'm not sure what they're called so finding out more info is difficult. I'm trying to find out how to remove them so I can put an AC unit in my window. Thank you, any help is appreciated!

Whats the mystery? There should be fasteners somewhere. Maybe that is a cover which slides or unclips out of place.
Please give us a second, more blurry photo from the same perspective to better assess.

It appears to just be a plastic sash stop.
Should be held in by the "barbed" sides, and just pop off. Might take some screwdriver/pry tool of your choice to coax it off.

Yeah, 100% guaranteed it's just a friction fit piece of plastic. OP's is probably more like a "T" shape though since there's just a singe groove/channel under it.

Just pry it out, OP.

Your apartment manager isn’t going to let you put in a window unit. They’re not just there to keep people from offing themselves out the window.

This. They will see the unit in your window from the outside and intervene, because allowing people in tall buildings to put window AC units in is a massive liability for them. An AC unit falling 6 stories on to someone's head is a massive potential lawsuit against both you and the building owner. Get a portable hosed AC unit instead.

Lol. Boomers had windows on skyscrapers that opened all the way, no screens. It seems to be kids and infants that are always falling out these days... that and russian oligarchs. The libtard pussy generations that followed needed their hands to be held and safety devices installed to protect the declining intelligence of society. You still need warnings that the coffee is hot. Holy shit...

Usually these are not allowed either because the upstairs neighbours will be breathing in your recycled air, which is considered a public health hazard (and they’ll smell your food)

Window falls in nyc dropped by 60% since they started requiring window guards. And the statistics say it’s mostly kids, but adults falling from ground/1st floor windows usually don’t get recorded because they don’t end up in the hospital

Stick your finger underneath the gap in the middle and pull hard

You might be violating some law or some shit though

If I were you I’d rip it off.

Cut off the channel in the middle with a dremel

Glue magnets to it drill it so it’s flush mount and in the frame
So you can pop them off and on real easy

AC units do not exhaust air from inside the dwelling, retard. Don't pull shit out of your ass and try to pass it off as fact.

They cannot stop you having some form of AC else you sue them for health complications due to heat

If you really think this is how things are you're a rather naive person.

You have the ability to get one of these >>2932394 so the building owners/managers not allowing the windows to open past a certain amount doesn't stop you from being able to have an air conditioner. You might have a case if they didn't allow the windows to be opened at all, but that's not the situation.
