Is there a particular reason everyone prefers accordion pipe over PVC pipe for French drains?

If I had to guess, it's because the big black ribbed pipe is flexible and wont just shatter like PVC.

its cheaper.
doesnt really matter as long as it has holes in it to let the water in, and you do it right.

I read recently (in a thread here I think) about some guy who had to redo a ton of drainage at his house after a backhoe or some other heavy equipment drove over his fr*nch drain system. Shattered the PVC and collapsed it.

>French drains?
My neighbour wants me to put in french draining for her..

The footing goes down 50cm.
While down there (laying perforated pipe below the footing), should I waterproof the footing?

Use dimplemat?

Do I need to seal the dimplemat against water getting behind it?

Or painting on some generic goo will do the job?

to eliminate the hydrostatic force forcing water into concrete foundation & concrete slab resulting in mould growth on exterior brickwork & interior floor + wall.

Can still be problematic..
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xurPUjUfm7s
A few meters from the new back room is a spring, and the whole backyard is always wet/soaked from that spring and from water run off from the neighbours land that is higher than her yard.
I dug down to confirm water table is higher than where the footing starts for the recent back room extension..
Hydrostatic forces of that water table will cause footing to absorb water causing mould growth on back room extension's interior slab...

Back room Interior's flooring is wood planks on top of that slab & owner doesn't want me to pull it up to check the slab surface..
Bottom of the back room's external brick work has mouldy looking green shit growing on it all year round..

House is double Brick & tile.. problem is the back room extension has external brickwork with internal wood frame & gyprock board..
Wicking action may be wetting the interior wood frame, but that back room extension is too new for the gyprock to show a problem.

Yes, she does want me to waterproof the footing with whatever will work.
So, dimple mat? does it need to be sealed so water can't get behind it?
&/or painted on water retarder that breathes?

Because they are retarded, cheap, and lazy anon, same reason they fell for fr*nch drain meme in the first place. Just put regular drains with catch basins using schedule 40 pipe. That way when it clogs as all outdoor drains inevitably do you can actually clean out the clog.

>non-Armature French Draining..
use Flexible 8 slotted corrugated [High Octane] French Drain Man-Pipe (FDM) made of High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) ; It's much stronger than the cheap piss weak black flexible perforated piping.

Not... PVC with holes drilled in it, not even schedule 35 nor 40 rigid pipe..
Normal rigid pipe MUST always be at 1% drop slope because anything more will result in sediment build up and the water quickly sheeting over it, leaving the sediment to settle and remain..
Always resulting in blockage.

Corrugated piping can be at 1%, 2%, 3%, 4% whatever slope you want because the turbulence created by the corrugation kicks up the sediment and carries it out clearing that flexible piping from sediment build up.

ALSO.. the flexible HDPE slotted corrugated flexible pipe will undergo freeze thaw cycles and never break..

I guess its all about the soil's drain rate, but I think its all about getting deep enough to with porous big gravel back fill that it drains directly into groundwater table.
