Any carpet bros here?
The carpet installers installed the carpet backwards (shouldve been installed 180 degrees). We called. they said they will just pull up the cut carpet and rotate it and tack it down, but not install a new piece.

Will that work? I feel like they're trying to cheat us out of getting the right carpet. The room is technically a rectangle but I dont think all corners are perfect 90 degree angles so even rotating it may introduce some corner errors.

Carpets stretch. They will just stretch it to fit/trim it.

Also, don't get carpet. That shit is nasty. Solid wood, stone, tile, and concrete are the only good floors. Vinyl is acceptable, as long is it isn't that self adhesive shit or the cheap stuff.

If they install it with errors then you point out the errors and don't pay them until they do their job properly, how is this a question?
If they fucked up by installing the carpet incorrectly then it's on them to fix it out of their own pocket

We had to pay 100% before the carpet was installed. the best we could do now is ask the bank to put a hold on the funds

Yes, they can just rotate it. No, the corners aren't a perfect 90 degree angle, neither are the installers cuts. I'm also confused how/why you think its installed in the wrong direction.

>Also, don't get carpet. That shit is nasty.
Carpet isn't nasty. Its just a synthetic material. Whats nasty is people just never cleaning it.

It's not possible to clean it properly. Besides it sheds little particles of whatever plastic it is made of.
The only advantage that carpets bring is noise reduction.

Kinda like your synthetic fiber clothing? Depending on the traffic you should wet-vac your carpet like once a year but nobody ever does because it either costs money or an expensive machine.

The pattern is only viewable in one direction, and it wasnt disclosed to us beforehand. we didnt see it until after the work was done and we walked around the room

left side is how it looks standing from the back corner of the room, you can see the floor pattern and no vacuum/walk marks are visible
right side is how it looks when you actually enter the room, the carpet is a washed out grey, and you dont seen the pattern lines, only the marks from feet and the vacuum.

That's some ugly ass carpet, bro.

Also, why would you buy carpet which has a pattern only visible from one direction? Sounds pretty stupid. Like you're only going to ever be in one side of the room and never see the carper from the other side of the room? WTF is this shit?

You should see carpet options today, they suck. Everyone is going for plank vinyl flooring now. The rep didnt tell us that when he showed us the book of samples.
Ultimately its fine in this case because you can only enter the room from one side.

>>2932399
we did look at a sample book with the rep. but it was small and no way to know that it was only a one sided pattern.

Because those machines can't do what a truck mounted machine can do. Those little mobile plug-in steam cleaners absolutely pale in comparison. They are a half measure for consumers to feel good about themselves and for professionals to clean carpets in areas that hoses are not capable of reaching. The heat, the pressure, the suction, the capacity are all significantly inferior. You hardly even need chemicals to get most stains out because again, the heat, pressure and suction are so strong that most everything gets blasted right out. Plus, they dry your carpet way better than the plug-in models, so you don't gotta worry about mold.
>my dad ran a carpet cleaning business with gas fired truck mounted units
I used to do this shit to help my dad. I forget the HP of that engine, but there's just no way a regular plug in appliance can compete with a literal gas fired unit, bro. The truck mounted units are pretty amazing. They clean really freakin' good. If you do that shit once a year, your carpets will never get gross, guaranteed. It doesn't even cost much or take long. It used to be $100 a house.

>You should see carpet options today, they suck
They do suck. Really bad. You just can't find soft, plush carpet anymore. It's literally a thing of the past. It's all short and sterile like commercial carpet. What I don't get is why everyone thinks hard floors are so great. Literally every hard floor I've ever encountered is either disgusting from the accumulation of dust and hair or it's been meticulously maintained. Your socks basically act as a mop for them. It's so gross.

>>2932384
>The pattern is only viewable in one direction
That's how most carpet is, mate. It will look different from different angles and also from the fibers being laid down a certain way.

They do exactly what the truck mounted machines do. It sprays detergent and water, then vacuums it up. They both do the same thing.
>my dad owned a failed business!
So you drank the koolaid thinking only the truck mounted vacuum cleaners are capable of washing carpet. Buy an ad.

the carpet she had before was very plush but also 40 years old and flat in a lot of spots, but underneath the furniture you still had a glimmer or what it was like when new. bold, plush, and soft.
This carpet was $2000 for install and nowhere near what she had before

Light sources will change how it looks, especially with pile direction (the way the carpet fibers naturally lay down because of manufacturing processes). The only way you will get a new piece of carpet is if there is something wrong with the carpet (manufacturer defects) or if the installer were to damage it in some way. Can it be turned and re-installed? Without seeing the rest of the room I cannot say. If it is a rectangular room with a doorway, it is very possible. In any case, if the installer does come back out, donโ€™t be a dick to them. This is the sales person fault for not properly addressing your expectations.

Have you tried vacuuming it with a traditional roller brush vacuum in the opposite direction? This is usually all it takes to bring out the pattern.

Okay there, buddy. Stay ignorant if you so choose. BTW, no need to put the cleaner in with the steam. Just lay down a presoak solution and the pressurized steam from the wand will do the rest. You don't want to leave behind any cleaner residue. Also, he's still in business. You're probably just jelly you don't get clean carpets, bruh. Stay mad.
