Moss on vinyl siding on house originally built in 1956?

QRD:

Currently HUD owned, last sold for $170K in 2021 (some goof high on Covid Cash?)

10 miles from Fort Worth, AK and 60 miles from booming NW AK region. Surrounded mostly by wide open fields, and while house is only on 2 flat acres, the immediate surrounding maybe 100 acres looks like not even "farm" but pasture/hay with pond and likely absentee owner.

Closest "biz" appear to be RV dealership and mom and pop computer repair and auto repair, which sound useful and harmless.

As far as add-ons, first thing I'd do is turn existing front porch into enclosed "mud room" and maybe later add poly-carb siding and frame in a garage door to the existing car-port structure.

Thots?

PS-I'm recently retired with $3400 month combined SS and Pension, but could work or remote work.

Pressure wash it.
Do the deck then stain it while you're at it.

And WTF is the floor tile in the bath with the bathtub all cracked to shit around the toilet and sink? Sink looks oddly proportioned on counter and tub is on pads on tile.
Is this a recent remodel for handicapped and likely low quality DIY and something was happening "Operationally" around shitter and sink and that cracked the tile? Note short grab bar.

I don't mind the way it looks, my ques is is the moss from outside, or does it indicate that whole shady side wall is rotten?

Why does a 1956 house have vinyl siding? Did that side of the house rot off, then they were sold a deal to "might as well do the whole house so it will match"?

Heck, I'd maybe extend the deck up with PVC pipes and make a sunroom with this shit.

It probably had wood siding originally, along the line someone (second owner perhaps?) decided to update it and not have to deal with painting it, so it got vinyl siding. That's how mine is, built about the same time as that one. And my siding gets moss on it too. Like anon said, pressure wash it.

I can pick this house apart for you. Another anon was looking at a read turd of real estate in Akron a couple weeks ago.

The vinyl isn't growing vegetation. It's just caked in filth and neglect. An unskilled laborer can rip down the entire house vinyl in 4 hours. Come back with something respectable like cement or metal siding.

OP here, I made this thread. >>2929427

I do notice this thread's house was listed/sold at least 3 times since 2011.

Seems like a red flag. Does something happen seasonally? Does the sewer vent everyday from 4-7pm? I once lived in cheap rental house in nice area, and I'm pretty sure it was rental because of sewer venting smell. Prob was the vent was just off property, but blew onto my house.

how about this one? Besides retarded driveway and slope issues, why did its price drop 40%?

Roof appears to be in very good condition/recently replaced, along with good vents. I'm guessing original owner died and this has been a "started home" for several people. Yeah, there could be some seasonal shit and the best you can do is check with some locals. My buddies family moved into a home that seemed normal for nine months and then, holy shit, it turned out the weird concrete channels, near the garage were to contain the massive amounts of running water from the natural spring, up in the property.

Why's it so cheap? I guess the entire area is priced in that range.

I'm cool with vinyl at that kind of a sticker price. The brick is good. Their carpets are beat. Drive is on its way out. Most of the house is very basic and uninteresting so I'm ok with the cantilevers and some fun painted walls for kids rooms. Almost all the light fixtures are haggard. The wainscotting in the dining room is a welcome change. Fireplace might look good painted. Someone did a pretty low effort to update the bath, but the house appears otherwise diy free. I would have plumbing and hvac inspection if this was a serious look.

One of the major builders in my area used this style of house for probably 30-40 years. It made it pretty easy to know what handy work people are going to want on every one of them.

what I like about Forest Ave house is backyard goes to open forest all the way up to next street and don't look like any building on those lots.

prob is looks like narrow maybe one way road and tough parking out in front and driveway seems to go wrong way into road.

be a real bitch for more than one car using person to live there.

I'm scared of brick because I've done some home repairs and brick guys will always say it ALL has to come down and go up.

Its not a brick house its wood with brick holding in moisture.

fuck oklahoma is so cheap. I could sell my home in Oregon to buy one in Oklahoma outright, and pay my bills/property tax by selling feet pics.

The tile is not just cracked it goes like an inch down and itโ€™s not just one crack. My guess is whatever is supporting those tiles rotted away and/or broke

Algae on the siding doesnโ€™t have to mean a problem inside the wall

Trimming around the toilet paper, climbing into that tub, the upside-down outlet. The place gives me anxiety for some reason and that's not including fixing a few tiles.
