I hear these days newer ones are OK, and after 1976 they were built to code.

Ideally I'd like to buy a house with not that many acres, but that is next to OPP (other people's property, or pussy) that is rural and vacant and would be defacto mine. :) Some body of water near by also nice.

They say "don't buy a new house because they are shit" with lots of defects. What about a house that is two years old? Wouldn't defects have surfaced and they'd have to disclose? Also I see they are still building a couple houses down, you if its same builder/contractor I'd be able to get some idea of WTF goes on.

Says "Masonite" and looks like could be the siding. I thought that shit ended. When I was slapping that shit on McMansions in Alamden Valley, San Jose you spit on the unpainted back side and by the time you got back from the outhouse it would be swelling. Only thing keeping rain out of the butts joints or where it meets trim was little goofy metal thingys or a bead of $0.77 tube caulk.

What about this shit. https://www.commonwealthcontracts.com/guides/hardie-board-vs-vinyl-siding
Website says its really only 1/3 better than vinyl and about 1/3 more cost.
I've installed it as well. Creates lots of smoke-like dust when cutting and I heard rumors that is now a big problem at normal busy construction site with other crews and random civilians, and pretty much a non-starter next to existing homes.
