- i'm having a bathroom fitted
- someone caused a palm-sized hole in the brickwork separating the bathroom from a bedroom
- the bathroom side is fine, not a big deal
- i told them to fix the bedroom wall

they filled it with expanding foam, cut the overspill off plumb with the wall, and painted it white.

1a. is that a reasonable fix?
1b. would this fix likely lead to any future difficulties?
2. would it be unreasonable for my to demand they mix some plaster, dig out the foam, and plaster that palm-sized (maybe twice that, on the face of the wall) hole? there's no plaster being used elsewhere on the job.

more info, FWIW:
- the most i'm ever likely to do with that part of the wall is paint it. probably white
- it looks absolutely fine

Smooth it out, add glory hole to the bathroom amenities, and raise the price by $1k.

depending on the brick type, the wall can be between 10 and 30 centimeters, which means for most of us this gloryhole would be useless
a gloryhole should be as thin as possible, to utilize the whole length of the shaft

how deep is the hole? just out of curiosity. right through? you say they were working in the bathroom but the bathroom side was fine? or there was a hole but you just don't care about it?
for just the plaster you would use filler anyway. if they cracked out a chunk of brick then thats a large depth to try and fill with plaster will take weeks to cure between layers. foam is fine to replace a hole or even a whole brick really, not to big a deal and more idiot proof than repointing.
i'm just surprised they got a good enough finish from cut foam to paint, it would be all full of tiny dimples from the air bubbles?
