I generated a controlnet + region mapped image. The problem is that if the strength and end_percent of the "Apply ControlNet" node are above 0.2, then one of my character's hair gets based on the reference image which is wrong.

Meanwhile if I keep the strength and end_percent at 0.2, while the result is fine, it deviates a bit from the reference pose, which kind of defeats the purpose of masking a specific image.

In the rentry guide I see this line:

Is this the kind of thing I need to look into? Otherwise, what is the best way to replace a character's hairstyle with their original hairstyle in a multi-character controlnet image?

Because you're using promax which is very strict and not meant for pose transfer. Use cn-anytestV4 instead, without the depth preprocessor.

Alternatively, you can use Apply Advanced Controlnet from https://github.com/Kosinkadink/ComfyUI-Advanced-ControlNet and mask the hair area to be ignored.

I'm surprised no one took a crack at this, given the popularity of Vocaloid generally. I'm barely familiar with that particular character, but how's this? I took some liberties with the sort of abstract shapes just over the horizon and assumed they were, in fact, very stylized clouds. I also played around with one done in a Hiroyuki Okiura style (just because of the imposing cityscape), not sure if that's actually an improvement or not.
