For me I usually go with:

I you want lower body, like legs to be in frame, you will run in the issues with shallow water/bathtub and bad waterline. That crap is mostly up to AI's whims.

So what is the absolute minumim number of images needed to train a character lora anyway? I just checked the CC guide on Civitai and it says at least 50 images but that you can get away with less. I doubt there are even half that many genuinely distinct pictures of Alis in the game. I'll try to get as many as I can though.

One. Only, it will be completely overfit on that one position, background, facial expresion, etc. What you can do is use this lora to try and gen something else with her, by reducing the strength, with the help of inpainting, or controlnet, or other tricks. Now you have 2-3 images with maybe a different pose or background. Bake a new lora that is slightly less overfit. Repeat ad nauseam.

You can do lora with ONE image

WIth 15 images you can already make something decent.

The secret with low dataset is carefully and manually tag the images to make sure it doesn't learn anything unnecessary or mistakes.

What you are asking for is perfectly doable. However understand the amount of work and effort it takes to make an accuratte lora from a single image and generate with it a decent image, is a bit above the average effort required to fulfill a request

Not that is impossible, but you need to have interest in doing it

I don't understand. How do I improve the base image? What are checkpoints? What should my settings be?

In that case my original image I wanted painted swimsuits. There are only about 500 examples of "painted clothes" on gelbooru and 650 on danbooru. So I genned normal one-piece swimsuits then inpainted each swimsuit about 4 times to get them painted on using "painted clothes" "dripping paint" and "visible nipples" (visible pussy for Lyra). That gave me close to what I wanted but I had to put it back in inpaint sketch in order to fix the paint one more time for both girls. I still don't think it works because their painted swimsuits still have folds but you can pretend those were purposely painted on so I was okay with posting it. Didn't notice Lyra was missing a thumb, it's not the focus of my attention.

I assume that's what gave the image "too much inpainting" but because you mention "Guy does far too much inpainting already" that it's a problem across all my OC images (since nobody would notice when I gen characters like Louise Francois le Blac de la Valliere, Candace or Yanfei). My sampling method is Euler a, my sampling steps are 35, my image size is 1024 on one side, my batch count is 12 so I can choose what I like most out of the bunch to upscale, cfg is 5, my denoise upscale is set to .34, upscale by 2. does anyone use reForge with an idea how it works?
I tried to swap out a checkpoint in the UI window and got a connection error and it crashed. now when I load the webui, it's looking for a text encoder that doesn't exist. "No checkpoint CLIP loaded - must use separate text encoder
Loading separate text encoder: TE: NoobAI-XL-v1.1"

and then it crashes. I tried moving NoobAI out of the models folder just to launch the UI but it went ahead and downloaded it from huggingface and then looked for the TE and crashed again.

This is a bit of a shot in dark, but one possibility is to remove NoobAi checkpoint from config.json file in web-ui root folder.

-Completely close WebUi
-Open config.json
-Look for sd_model_checkpoint and replace the model name with any Non NoobAi-model that you have. Don't forget to save.

So:
"sd_model_checkpoint": "NoobAI-XL-v1.1.safetensors",

To:
"sd_model_checkpoint": "AnyCheckpointXL.safetensors",

This may or may not prevent NoobAi from loading as default. Again hard to say.
