Been trying out character reference recently thinking Halloween is the perfect use-test for it. I'm really impressed with how precise the style keeps with all the different costumes and stuff without forcing background color themes or poses based on the actual "character" image, like vibe transfer does. There's some leakage from the original image, but a it's pretty easily and consistently fixable.

New poster here, just got into ComfyUI and this is my hello world.

Just Euler A. I use the dpm line with karras for photorealism because the added noise makes it look more like a photograph and not airbrushed, but I prefer anime stuff to look cleaner.

Also I remember some anon mentioning in /h/ that there's some technical conflict between dpm and v-pred, so on those models it's even noisier than usual.

Unless you're using some speshul snoflaek models, it really doesn't mater. The differences between Euler, or DMP++2M, or any other sampler or schedule is so minimal, that it can genuinely be dismissed as meaningless.

Experiment if you want to, but the gains you'll gain from using some speshul snoflaek thing (DPM++ 2S Ancestral CFG++ Intern for example) could be quantified as giving you 1% or 2% better gains. while you also run the risk of this particular sampler ruining everything else because it's meant to be used with some absolutely retarded setting like 10 steps and 1.5 CFG, so when you run it at an average of 20 steps and 4 CFG, it just breaks apart.

Just stick to the usual suspects and move on with your day, unless you wanna spend your entire day with your computer making XYZ plots and analyzing every pixel to see what little improvements you'll get.

I use NAI (pls no bully), so it's a lot of trying weird narrative prompts to see what sticks, mixing in danbooru tags from the list for more certain results, and inpainting extensively. Nearly every time i gen the tail specifically is distorted and busted, but inpaint will pick it up and fix it if i draw it in. It also wrecks detail work like the jolly roger on the hat a lot,or trim lines on clothing, etc. The only straight gen in here is the mummy one, the others all needed a lot of touch up.

Character ref is the feature that I'm using, which i was not at all impressed with when it came out and basically ignored. Now that i've goofed with it a little though, it keeps a very consistent style and color palette even when using different colors or backgrounds that don't exist in the original image. The coolest part is it even works with multiple characters and retains coherency, but i've only tried "faceless males" and not like, a specific dude or other woman or anything yet, which i bet would cause problems.

Also I'm going though the F.A.Q and noob guides and the best thing I've found so far is the X,Y,Z plot.

I've been googlin a bit and I found a .csv file with 20k danbooru tags I'm playing a bit by making random lists on it with the command line and just watching how it does come out.

I'm delving further to see if someone has more extended excel files like the tags themselves sorted by group to make it easier to generate random lists of prompts.

Its a bit fun to try and see what does come out from complete randomness, but the XYZ plot looks like its better formatted for the task even if the only feature its an autocomplete instead of random list generation.

from what I can see there's five adetailers at the bottom, each automatically adds relevant but useless tags like "perfect hands" and their output links into rgtree compare, that lets you do a before/after visual comparison, saving a few mouse clicks vs opening the images yourself

top left just pulls out the usual ksampler settings into separate nodes. prompt encode nodes implement the webUI style of lora activation like <lora:loraname>. And for some reason hiresfix is set to 1.5x latent upscale, that's like 2 year old way of doing things. I would definitely switch to an esrgan-based upscaler and pull the denoise lower.

Now you might want to upscale and run a second pass, that was the top right corner labeled Hiresfix. AI can't make good detail without more resolution, but at the same time it cannot make good anatomy if going above 1 megapixel. So we use a 2-step process, generating the composition and anatomy first, then upscaling and doing a second AI pass at low denoise. This improves details, and the low denoise prevents it from changing anything major such as breaking anatomy. That way you can improve whatever area you want and not just what you have a detection model for. And again you have a denoise level here that determines how much the area is allowed to change.

I train my lora tagging the costumes so to dress one character as another all I have to do is put the tags of character 1 traits and put the tags of character 2 costumes.

The only issue can appear if they have really similar physical traits, but that's solved by impainting the head removing the lora you don't want

The pipe is just a convenience node that collects a bunch of different input noodles together. Same as in that Civitai workflow you had, there it was called ToDetailerPipe. Click the grey square to expand it and show its links.

These detailing nodes from ImpactPack include their own KSampler under the hood, that's what does the actual AI pass. And so they require all the same inputs as KSampler would. That's the model UNET(purple), the positive and negative prompts(orange). Because the input is a pixel-space image(blue) and not a latent(pink) they also need a VAE(red) to encode the image into a latent internally, and decode it again once the process finishes. And FaceDetailer specifically also includes an optional prompt override, so it needs the text encoder(yellow) to encode this new prompt.

Yeah that bottom part was the last paragraph of >>3009034, the difference between the middle image and the right one. It's commonly called "inpainting".

You load an existing image, like your finished pic here. Then rightclick the load image node and go to "open in mask editor". Draw a mask roughly over some area, like say her eyes, and save it. When you run the workflow it will crop that part, upscale it, run another AI pass over it at this higher resolution, then merge it back into the original pic. So you get a similar benefit to upscaling (better detail) but without having to upscale the entire image to 4K or something crazy. And depending on how high you set the "denoise" you could also change her expression, eyelashes, eye color, etc by adjusting your prompt.

Same can be used to fix other bad details, nails, zippers, strings, fishnets, blades of grass, anything that suffers without enough resolution. You could even draw in new stuff crudely by hand, load the image, update your prompt then have the AI clean it up into the object you prompted for.

What you guys fail to account for is that AI is flooding everywhere. Not just on /e/. Go to Exhentai or any other place where people upload lewds and doujins and the AI uploads are outnumbering the fresh art, and it makes sense.

A drawfag might spend anywhere from a couple of hours to an entire day working on a single piece of art, while I can just set up some wildcards, and leave the PC running for an hour or two and I'll have like 600-800 images, get rid of the horrible ones, the weird poses, the extra arms/legs, etc. and I'll be left with an image set that's around 400+ images, perfect for me to sell to suckers on Paytreon.

So most of the new art out there is AI, just by the sheer volume of it. And some of it is getting good enough that people are genuinely posting it in other threads all around this website.
