Shorts look perfectly fine as long as they're appropriate for the occasion and not overly long/baggy and you have decent or at least average looking legs. I think these guys vehemently against shorts must be compensating for something. Perhaps hiding their fat pale hairy legs?
Oh, and if I need to say it, pale or hairy legs on their own aren't bad, as you can't really control that, but if they're fat legs, which you can control, then the paleness and hairiness just adds onto it.
