>showed the hair that I wanted
>he lops off 3-4 inches of hair off every side

Suffice it to say that I wore a hat on the drive home. I ended up fixing it like I usually do by trimming it without a comb to get that grunge look that I'm after. I now have to wait another 6-12 months to get my hair to the same length again.

Ok for future reference it's actually easier to self cut long hair than short. If you can do a passable job on your short hair, cutting it long will feel luxurious in its extra margin for error.

go to female barber if you're doing anything longer than a centimeter
