NEW Luca Turin reviews on Substack: https://lucaturin.substack.com/
>>18469854Personally I love it, to my nose it’s a lightly sweetened dryer sheet scent that contrasts in the best way with this faint earthy scent that is the tobacco flower.
>>18469893I have not, and while I fully expect I would like the scent, I want a little more performance out of my fragrances. I don’t even own any EdC’s, and any occasion where I would consider reaching for something akin to Eau de Guerlain I have other alternatives with better performance. Maybe not the exact same scent mind you, but Bohemian Lime, Del Mar, Neroli Mediterraneo, Eau de Rochas.

Got these two very nice chypres. They smell a bit similar but go different ways. Ivore smells greener to me, almost wearable for a man, Gucci 3 is more floral and fresh. Leather is listed for the Gucci but I smell it more on Ivore. I'm bad at leather scents because for me
leather is that cheap humid leather but I can see the luxury fine leather purse smell if I conjure it. I'll have to test them again later because I'm a bit sick and my nose is ruined. My mom really enjoys them so I hope she gets good use out of them.

Been trying some arabslop fragrances lately
Yara by Latafa: Women's perfume, smells pretty good and fertile
Asad by Latafa: Smells like sauvage elixir at first but dries into something weird and sweet, not very long lasting at least the batch I tried
Club de nuit intense man edt by Afnaf: Smells pretty good and lasts long
Al Qiam Gold: This one is weird, my wife says it stinks, I smell leather, some florals and middle eastern spices. Supposed dupe of ombre nomade
Khamra by Lattafa: Smells mostly like cinnamon , that's it
Khamra Qahwa: Similar to normal Khamra but better, more complex, don't really smell any coffee
Badee Al oud oud for glory: Smells like plastic or rubber, not really seeing the point of this unless you want to smell like chink furniture
Badee Al oud Honor and glory: Smells sweet, reminds me of JPG fragrances with a little spice. Redundant if you have any sweetslop perfume already
Badee Al oud Sublime: Smells like women's shampoo, very synthetic but if you like shampoo go for this
Fakhar Black by Latafa: Smells like drugstore cologne, not sure why people compare it with Y edp
>Arabslop of the day: Woods Collection North Star

Can you smell the difference between Eau de Parfum and Eau de Cologne or Toilette?
Like can you actually feel like it’s more dense or potent in practice since it’s higher concentration?
>>18471053not really. the difference is more in how they perform, with EDP lasting longer but sometimes staying closer to the skin. and Cologne lasting the shortest
but two different concentrations of the same fragrance are likely to have some slight differences. and nowadays, big differences because the different concentrations are just used as flanker names nowadays
Tried CdG Ouarzazate. Very nice, smells like a spice shop. Probably gonna buy 100ml.
>>18471053yes. the concentrations increase, they also change the formulations so that the scents themselves are different. although concentration has an impact on longevity, so does the scent molecule; some are more volatile (fleeting) than others. for example, you can have an EDP of a citrus-forward last shorter than a woody/warm spicy EDT
is Tobacco Vanille overpriced?

>>18469081 Horrible rose scent. It rapes your nose with it's obscene spices and it smells like grandma. Better alternatives:
Hermann à mes Côtés me Paraissait une Ombre - rose + smell of rain + incense + patchouli
Perles De Lalique - rose + pepper + patchouli + oak moss
Le Cri de la Lumière - rose + iris + ambrette + aldehydes
Rose rot - aluminum + rose + incense
Spice Must Flow - rose + incense + cardamom + ginger

>>18471273Glad you’re enjoying it Anon, I was very weirded out by my first sample of Nocturnis back in Jan of 2024. It was surprisingly heavy on citrus and light on woods and earth, not a bad fragrance but just didn’t read Nocturnis. Got another sample a few months back and was much more in line with what I expected, very sappy.

There's amateur people selling on etsy making legit nice frags. These are not even anywhere close to that. He's put all his energy into branding, marketing and web design and no energy into these junk frags that he sells. Literally ANYONE can buy a few ingredients and make frags equal to these or better on their first attempt. It would be fine if he was selling this shit for $30/100ml or something but he's selling this garbage for $200/50ml.

I’m gonna spend 30 dollarinos on a tuscan leather dupe. Kinda excited. Also my first time to go for “arabic”
Is Frederic Malle overrated? I feel like it's the same way like Creed where they make very well made fragrances but I'd rather something else.
Should I at least sample some?

Which Guerlain (masculine or feminine) is considered the best of all time?
People seem to think of Shalimar but most experts and critics mention Mitsouko.
>>18471787Shalimar is the most famous
Jicky and Mitsouko are equally important though, if not more so
>>18471787Habit Rouge is their flagship masculine and Shalimar the flagship feminine.
>>18471787for me it's Heritage
>>18471790>>18471791>>18471794Thinking of buying a vintage just to experience the GOAT the way it was meant to be.
Can’t make up my mind on which one though. Mitsouko and L’Heure Bleu out of all the reviews I’ve read seem to be the most special and “magical”. I’m sure Shalimar is great too but probably not on the same level.
>>18471797The thing with those old Guerlain frags like Shalimar and Jicky is that they're arguably more 'masculine' by modern standards than a lot of modern mens' frags, so you could wear them and people today wouldn't clock you for wearing a woman's perfume.
>>18471797>Thinking of buying a vintage just to experience the GOAT the way it was meant to be.not really possible, a 1920 perfume will have a lot of the top notes gone
the modern version are pretty good
>>18471703Lalique and Versace are pleasant 'laundry' type scents, faint but enjoyable.
Kenzo Marine is very strong and has good longevity, go light on sprays if you'll be around people all day.
Haven't tried Fomo but some of their dupes look interesting. Tell us how it is.
>>18471798Don’t really care for wearability with this one. I know they are all feminine (or at least mildly) leaning.

>>18471838Right now I'm using Yardly, the lavender one and the oatmeal one. It's fine but they seem to not last long. I usually use whatever is odorless or anything that has little scent since I'm sensitive to smells when I get sick.

There was a website that was like a small database for fragrances that celebrities or famous people wear or used to wear at some point.

I know nobody near to me used this (I live in a shithole, people used offbrand chypres and aquatics, if at all), but it feels nostalgic and "secure", kind of like a blanket on a rainy day when everything is quiet.
The closest I get a similar feeling is with Guerlain Vetiver (on the drydown)

why are most designer frags so safe? I'm talking about Sauvage, BdC, YSL Y, La nuit de l'homme, DHI. Don't get me wrong, they smell good but they don't feel original at all.

>>18472198He actually makes a couple really excellent gourmands, assuming you like gourmand scents. Gingerbread is a spot on bakery scent, Mint Cocoa is a pretty well done chocolate scent but unfortunately the juice is a little too dark for my tastes. And while they’re more fruity than a traditional ‘gourmand’ scents, Christmas Wine and Glühwein mimic the festive holiday drinks pretty well, remind me of drinking wassail at my parent’s place.
I’ve only really tested the first initial spray of a couple so far and they’re definitely not your traditional /frag/ loathed syrupy sweet scents (Gingerbread is a little closer to that). Winesap was a pleasantly sweet spiced apple scent, Pumpkivus did a surprisingly good job of making me think pumpkin as opposed to just the spices that are typically associated with it, and Pottsfield… I don’t remember exactly -what- it smelled like initially but it got a little better after 10-15 minutes.
