Gonna layer Salomรฉ and Seminalis to get that wonderful smell of sweaty balls, armpits and spunk that fills the room during those summer afternoons spent rotting and gooning in mom's basement.
I don't know why people pretend it's disgusting, it's the best smell ever, that's why you keep sniffing your fingers when nobody is watching you.
If you guys have better suggestions do tell.

Why does /frag/ not really talk about clones and arab stuff? I can't really justify spending 100-300 usd on something when I can get pretty close to it for 30-40 bucks. Is it a prestige/puritanism thing?
>>18476881>why is the most retarded place on the internet retarded?hey man i really wouldn't know
>>18476881we don't talk about such mundane fragrances.
we talk about olfactory art. if you have nothing to say about fermented cambodian oud or tibetian deer musk tincture from 1975, please head over to the fragrantica forums
>>18476881For one good clone, there are 20 horrible ones that people pretend are "just like the real thing bro" because they blind bought them and are coping
Also, there are plenty of amazing original fragrances under 40$. Expensive brands don't have a monopoly on good perfume and thinking a haphazard clone of a 200$ fragrance somehow has more "value" than a good original composition is sad
>>18476881if you can't afford luxury goods then don't buy them
>>18476881Some are good, but every week now there's a dozen new releases that all get hyped up as being absolutely perfect beast mode pantry dropping compliment pulling recreations of some $300 niche fragrance, and everyone rushes out to buy it, only for it to fall off the face of the earth within a month and get replaced with whatever the shills are paid to push now. Seems like Afnan Rare Reef is the newest one in this cycle.
Plus the fact that they have to sit in your cupboard for at least a month after spraying it for the first time before they even start to become wearable is fucking retarded.
>>18476893yeah that's fair enough, there's a lot of disingenuous shilling going around. but i was in the istanbul airport and they have the biggest selection of stuff i've ever seen and i smelled the originals of all the clones i owned and with maybe 1-2 exceptions it very much further validated my choice of not going with the more expensive option. dont really see the value proposition for the original stuff when a good clone exists and for most popular designer and niche frags there are like 5-10 clones to choose from.
>>18476894lick my taint
>>18476895ok but why would i care whats popular with retarded zoomers on tiktok? dont see how thats relevant tbqh
>>18476881>>18476895Plus, you can't test them in stores and it's harder/less cost effective to get decants so you're kind of forced to blind buy, and you'll get more misses than hits. I bought Bade'e Al Oud Honor and Glory after seeing it praised constantly and described as a pineapple creme brulee scent. Sounded great, then I got it and it smells like burning hair and rubber. Legitimately unwearable garbage, even after sitting for a couple of months.
if a fragrance has a clone, i lose all interest in it. the harder it is to procure, the better.
>>18476897get a job faggot

Thoughts on Ostens and Matiere Premiere? Is knowing that the ingredients come from LMR worth anything to you (Ostens)? Matiere supposedly grow some of the ingredients on their farms. Are there any other brands like this?
>>18476979MP is solid. i believe Guerlain has an island where they raise bees to make their own honey, though i don't think they use it in their perfume. but they also have fields where they grow some flowers (might be owned or exclusive partnerships idk).

>>18476780Nicolai makes mediocre perfumes for the most part other than my vintage 30ml bottle of New York, which is pretty good. Why have you autistically defended this mediocre perfumer for years?
Every fucking faggot thinks they're a perfume expert. Euroitalia hasn't distributed D&G Pour Homme in probably 20 years. This retard's argument that it's not actually vintage because it's not dark yellow is stupid. I've got two other Euroitalia bottles and they have the same clear yellow color. Now I'm left with the choice of paying this guy's return shipping to me or giving him the bottle.
>>18477163He got to smell it and was revolted by the smell but since you can't return a perfume for

what's a good beginner oud
I just got a sample of Imagination, and it basically just smells like you did your laundry with 15 dryer sheets then scrubbed it with a bar of soap. Kind of underwhelming for something that costs like $300. Smells very high quality though at least.
>>18477328this but with the clone Oud for Glory (the exact same frag for like 1/10 of the price)
>>18477320Whereโd you get the sample?
Also a question for everyone in the thread.
Acqua di Gio Profumo is lauded as being fantastic and unfortunately is discontinued, never had the chance to sniff it, probably never will considering how highly sought after it is.
There are some that say AdG Parfum is a fairly faithful recreation of the discontinued Parfumo. Is there anyone here that has smelled both and can comment?
>>18477330From ScentDecants, I also got Pacific Rock Moss, Bohemian Lime, and Greenley as well. Pacific Rock Moss is really nice, very fresh and mineral-y, probably my favourite so far but I haven't tried Bohemian Lime yet.
>>18477334Never tried Profumo, but the Parfum isn't very exciting.
Take the original AdG, make it slightly richer with a faint incense note and that's what it is.
Boring.
>>18477313>created by some investment fund 3 years agoso they are newcomers? cool.
>all the effort is spent on branding, theme and bottleswell that's how you make the first impression, can't blame them.
>scents? what scents? oh yeah, I guess we'll pay some rando to slap something together. or buy a rejected designer formula, IDKthe scents are there, have you even tried them? i have tried three of them and each smelled exactly like what it said on the tin.

Does anyone know a perfume that ONLY smells like Lemons or citric in general? I only found Bergamotto di Calabria, but it loses it smell rather fast. All the ones i found, that claim to be citric just smell like flowers and old people.
>>18477420Citric notes don't last long, that's why they are top notes to other long lasting notes. You can check stuff like Trumper West Indian Lime, or other similar colognes. They only last a couple minutes. I too want to smell like a lime anon.
>>18477420guerlain pamplelune? that one is pretty much just grapefruit. no citrus centric perfume will last that long though

>>18477269I dedicate two shelves of my wardrobe to my fragrances and have another shelf in my room for my top fragrances. Both places of course have doors on them to not let in light.
>>18477327I second this, citrus+leather+oud without more tricky notes like saffron or rose.
>>18477326I need to try this one.
Tauer got 2 new fragrances (((while supplies last))). Rose Absolu and Vanilla Absolu, both flankers from his failed Taurville line. Heraud has the best most natural vanilla I have ever smelled and very long lasting so he knows how to do vanilla. His rose perfumes are also his best in my opinion. Unfortunately I am not into vanilla at all and the rose one sounds too sweet for me. The only perfume from Tauer I'm interested in that I don't own is Incense Rose.
I really wish Tauer would move on from his gourmand phase, his best are his dry roses and incense perfumes.
Dior Sauvage is so abrasive, what do people even like about it?
>be andy
>make laddm and addm
>both get great reviews
>instead of making more great frags make sweet slop
huh?
well anyway reddit will buy it up either way because his name now has recognition
>>18477491normies wear it because it's popular and they're afraid to do anything that will make them stand out
>>18477492>instead of making more great fragsHe did, Rose de Kandahar is his best but most of his sales come from LADDM so he's stuck trying to make stuff on-trend to compensate for his stuff that doesn't sell. I just hate reading his fanboys call him a genius like everything he does is flawless. He's quite skilled and has struck gold multiple times but he has a lot of duds.
>>18477416yes and nowhere close to real oud. there won't be any (perceivable) amount in designer or masstige frags that have the name oud in them
>>18477488>his failed Taurville linethe stories line was pretty good. i wonder why it failed. probably too experimental
>>18477543He's a creative person, he needs outlets for his creativity outside the constraints of his main brand. The business end doesn't always work out, he's lucky his main brand allows him to experiment. He should just have an offshoot line in his main line where he can do all his experimental stuff. Call it ALTauer or something stupid. That's where his Attar and L'Oudh should have been, they are great stuff but don't fit his core audience. Also everyone hates limited stuff but it's a necessity at times when experimenting. He just needs to stop his stupid FOMO marketing and just say, "hey I only have enough ingredients for a couple batches" or "this is a special edition test batch, if it works out I'll do a main release."
>>18477364Well, I've already witnessed a couple of total normalfags buy it as their one and only fragrance. I'd say it's mass appealing enough , and therefore beginner friendly
Vanilla scents and gourmond scents generally smell cheap, plasticky and overpower everything they're mixed with. Anyone who likes to smell like cookie batter is low IQ.
>>18477716Mercedes Club Black was one of my worst buys for this reason.
I have liked some 'boozy' vanilla notes. Fahrenheit Le Parfum for ex. is decent, though I still much prefer the EdT.
>>18477716I generally agree but the vanilla in Habit Rouge is nice.

do you prefer Rien or Rien: Intense Incense?
>>18477488I also love his Incense Rose, currently own ACDD and probably going to pick up IR after ACDD is a little closer to empty, but really getting annoyed with him producing frags you canโt sample prior to purchase.
>>18477558You can do limited batches so long as samples of said limited batch are also available.
>>18477741I
haven't smelled either
I'm a coomsumer and I'm craving a leather scent. I recently bought a really nice leather duffle bag to carry my stuff daily and I want to keep carrying the smell.
I've done a bit of research and I found ADP leather, ombre leather, Tuscan leather and extreme leather.
Has anyone tried the ADP? It's the only one that my nearby stores don't have and I found a bottle of 180ml for around 180 USD and it seems it's discontinued.
>>18477770dunno but for me it's jacomo de jacomo
>>18477770knize ten for something classic
the zoo scent tattoo for something modern
>>18477737I would rather have literally burnt $120 and took a whiff than spend it on Imaginary Authors. It's not the money, it's my olfactory receptors.
>>18477743That's a good point. He needs to revamp his samples. The way they are lumped together is close to nonsensical. I'm still making up my mind on IR, I want another sample, I don't want to buy a set with 4 other stuff I either don't like or already tried. He also needs smaller bottles. I would be all over a 10ml IR.
weak, opens as household cleaner dries down to blueberry vape
cheap plastic cap, very sad
>>18477775NTA but Jacomo de Jacomo came off as more smoky to me than leather, but I did still enjoy it.
>>18477770>>18477781Knize Ten seems to be a bit more polarizing, it definitely has a big following, but when I smelled it smelled nothing like leather and was pretty unappealing, so ymmv.
>>18477783Iโm in a similar boat with Heraud, havenโt sampled it at all, but not interested in paying $40 for what will essentially be a single sample and 3-4 other things Iโve already tried.
He used to have 10 ml splashes which he recently axed from his website. I didnโt much care for them -because- theyโre splashes, but right when I was thinking to buy one and just immediately decant it into a travel spray, they were removed.
Itโs nice when niche fragrance houses offer their own travel sprays, get a little more to test over a standard 2 ml sample.
Got a bottle of Eddie Bauer Adventurer. Holy top notes Batman! It opens with the most aggressive cheap green notes that made me feel like I made another terrible blind vintage buy. Fortunately it turns into a smooth clean tobacco scent. This is what DGPH wanted to be before they turned it nuclear. DGPH has a much more humane opening but the longevity is quite aggressive. They both smell cheap but Adventurer doesn't overstay its welcome. The bottle is super cheap, it got stained by its own fragrance because the frosting is a layer.
It came with a tiny bottle of Eddie Bauer Classic which is a sweet little fresh fougere with lavender, spices, maybe some clove. I can't find the notes for it which proves how much of a noselet I am. It's actually nicer than Adventurer if not a bit generic. Reminds me of Armani EPH but milder, simpler, and sweeter.

>ambroxan
>>18477797Heraud is awesome, it's a great cocoa gourmand, and the vanilla is the most luxurious high quality I have ever smelled. What ruined it for me was reading some reviews criticizing it for its use of ambrox and then I noticed how similar it is to a lot of ambrox heavy women's perfumes. No wonder women absolutely love Heraud, very popular with the ladies.

>>18477800Got a bottle of Gucci Nobile. Without looking at the notes all I got was lavander, lots of it, a bit of spice on the top, and then lots florals. Looking at the notes the green notes become obvious, then carnation, fir, and moss. Other than being a noselet, vintage fragrances are blended into one scent so it's not easy to pick out 1 of the 20 or so notes. It's an ultra masculine scent but not in a harsh way, in a working professional with a power suit on, way. It smells like an 80s business man in a high rise whose business did not survive into the 90s.

i'd look for fresh, clean aquatic frags. typically the longevity will not be the greatest, but you can always reapply. you can also apply on your clothes.

just bought this, i'm especially excited about maharajah and booze & baccy but the others seem good as well. here's to hoping this stuff is as high quality as they say.
>>18478127im in the camp that if you really like the scent, save up to pay for the real thing. i find that clones always have something missing and i end up buying the real thing.
you can try to get the clone and it might suit you, but that's not my way to go.
also, TL is very clsoe to OL and the latter is much cheaper in comparison

What's a fragrance you love but never seen mentioned? I just found a sample of Azzaro The Most Wanted EDT Intense at the back of my cupboard from last year with a little bit left in it, and it smells amazing to me. I see the EDP intense talked about, but never the EDT version. I might pick up a bottle, I've got my nose glued to my arm right now.

>>18478298What is it like?
>>18478133>as high quality as they say.who says that?
to me those are like any other grooming company making a throwaway frag to make money off of brand loyalty
>>18478298>>18478304It's sickeningly sweet at first, very sugary and creamy which is mainly coming from the vanilla Chanel uses. It's the same vanilla they use in the sport version just a lot stronger. There is also a fizzy, fake citrus note that isn't too bad but fades quick. The dry down is great.
been bathing in 4711 lately, beautifully unisex and quite fresh, decent sillage when first applied, unfortunately terrible longevity.
do we have reccomendations for fruity + citrus fragrance for summer to wear during daytime? recently its been hitting like 100 degrees so i really need something that fits me (mostly going to the lake w my friends) that is mostly just sweet and fruity while being slightly fresh or sm. maybe tropical could be nice idk.
anything with good, realistic, and mostly long lasting peach note? i love peaches so it'd be nice to smell like em or something idk. good longevity, projection and silage would be nice

>>18478124Got a bottle of Escada Pour Homme. The top notes are a very luxurious lavender and citrus, I don't get the listed cognac note which is supposed to be a big part of it, maybe I need to drink more. The heart notes smell a bit dated and quite familiar because of the carnation and it gets very fresh and clean. The base notes make it all worth it with a stellar patchouli and musk with spices. It's one of the best scents I have smelled and keeps me coming back to it. The base notes remind me of D&G Velvet Patchouli but a lot smoother because of the vanilla and spices. It doesn't have great performance but it works out great for me and makes it more casual. I got it in a box and the bottle looks like it has never been used. Very happy with it.
>>18477937Thank you for your recommendation. I tried Guerlain cuir intense today and I really liked it, even more than ombre leather. Is ADP similar to this?
I'll search in discounters for Guerlain, the price in store is around 210 USD.
I also tried Tom Ford eau d' ombre leather, it is pleasant but it's too sweet because of the vanilla, it smells kind of cheap, reminds me of Paul Sebastian fine cologne.
>>18478545>reminds me of Paul Sebastian fine cologneso it's good? because PS is decent except I see it as a feminine scent because I associate sweet smells with femininity
>>18478553Yeah I would say that TF eau d' ombre leather is rather good, the initial spray really got my attention but it's really not for me and it's too expensive for a spicy vanilla, but you do you.

i liked it, i dont get the hate
>>18478556>>18478545I've only smelled both briefly, but I liked the the Guerlain more. it is that slightly dirtier, dustier tobaccoish leather that smells richer
the ADP is sharper and has some citrus. it is closer to the tom ford leathers, but the citrus doesn't fit all that well for my taste
my preference would probably be TL = Cuir Intense > OL = ADP

Kind of like Le Sel D'Issey but also it just reminds me of a lighter version of Kenzo Homme EDP opening, with none of the darkness or leather/patchouli dry down, so can't decide if it's just too redundant to buy.
It's a nice fresh scent though and definitely lasts a long time.

Picrel is the bottle I tried hard to recreate from my memory, I only got a quick glimpse after I got a whiff and he went out, so i might be misremembering the details but I'm sure thats it. Working through a sample. Candied violet leaf opening into a very heavy but rather pleasant patchouli middle. Once the base vetiver starts creeping in, there's the feeling of a hedge frequently visited by cats that I can't shake. Ruins the overall scent for me. None of the modern BB line has impressed me so I think I'm done with Boss.
Is it normal for your nose to acclimate to a frag after a month of continuous use? Granted I spray very conservatively (one spritz on the back of the neck) because I work in an office but it still feels lacking in intensity from when I first bought it.
