I want to spend my hard earned money to smell like this.
>>18482033what is this exactly?
>>18482031 (OP)today i tested out Alessandro Manfredini:
>Top:Rosemary and Star Anise
>Mid:Green Cyclamen
>Base:Ambergris, Cedarwood and Tonka
it is a very sweet and seductive scent with a hint of herbal notes in it, i like it and i think it is a great way of starting the captain fawcett collection. i will see how it weighs against others soon.
>>18482039looks solid
any favorites?
>>18482044Yeah, several:
>Overture Man>Royal Tobacco>Black Iris>Tauer ACDD>Dior Homme Parfum>Eau Sauvage Parfum>Tony Iommy Monkey Special>Opium Pour Homme>Torino 21>Platonum Egoiste>Histoires de Parfums 1740>Beau De Jour
>>18482029I find it’s a little more rich and earthy in the opening, and the longevity is a bit better, but neither of them last particularly long.
It’s also a bit annoying the vintage juice is yellow enough to stain a white shirt, which is exactly the kind of shirt I would want to wear with it.
>>18482036dryer sheet ya knobhead
>>18482048I'm not american, so I have never seen this item before in my life
what should I get in this 4 sample set from ELDO? any other choices I should consider?
Love that warm almost animalic smell of labdanum, which mens fougere/barbershop style has the heaviest longest lasting labdanum dry down?
can we all agree to the fact that if stored properly, frags never go bad?
>>18482056I think Port Maribou or something like that from ELDO is also worth trying. It has a caviar note, very avantgard fucked up shit.
>>18482039a lot of good stuff
some mid stuff
could do with less slop
>>18482074depends on what you mean by "go bad"
>>18482080less potent, more of an alcoholic smell, these kinds of things.
SOTD: Al-Rehab Silver
Imagine wearing that to the beach
>>18482074Totally depends on the frag since some ingredients are more volatile than others. Citrus and lighter top notes become almost unrecognizable in old fragrances. Oxygen oxidizes. In the end time makes fools of us all.

just had the first whiff from all of these, i think triumphant was my favorite it had a very green and citrusy lime scent to it, nebula came in close second with the citrusy and slightly fruity scent, booze and baccy was good but the smell of alcohol and tobacco isn't really my thing. maharajah was my least favorite, i was expecting musk scent with spicy notes on it but i didn't really get anything out of it.
>>18482089I'm wearing Lord rn
Absolute beast.
>>18482082well top note go away no matter how well you store the frag
and I assume there's some natural ingredients that could go bad
>>18482056Why not get the 20 piece Discovery Kit? If you get the Discovery Kit, you get the 4 piece sample set with Rien I, Rien II, La Fin du Monde, and Jasmine & Cigarette.
My favorites
>The Ghost in the Shell>You or Someone Like You>Hermann>Remarkable People>Exit the King>I Am Trash>Rien>Jasmine & Cigarette
>>18482056Why not get the 20 piece Discovery Kit? If you get the Discovery Kit, you can get the 4 piece Sample Set with Rien I, Rien II, La Fin du Monde, and Jasmine & Cigarette.
My favorites
>The Ghost in the Shell>You or Someone Like You>Hermann>Remarkable People>Exit the King>I Am Trash>Rien>Jasmine & Cigarette
>>18482143Do you orefer Rien or Rien II?
Despite all that I've tried; Sauvage Elixir, Terroni and Black Afgano fuck the hardest.
>>18479406my small bottle just arrived
to my nose Green Water is a 50-50 mix of Mugler Cologne/Original Vetiver and Odalisque with a citrus blast up top, performance is average for a frag of this kind (maybe a little bit weaker), spring/summer day frag
i will wear this a lot, probably full bottle worthy in the long term (it also has a nice bottle if that matters to you)
>>18482039+1 for
>>18482077Antaeus seems to be a strange omission btw
>>18482056>YOSLY>Rien (I/II)>Remarkable People>The Ghost in the Shell/Exit The King/Hermann/etc.
>>18482242sounds nice
thanks for your thoughts
Dior launches its new fragrance Sauvage, with the name originating from the fragrance Eau Sauvage from 1966, although the two don’t belong to the same collection. Sauvage is inspired by wild, open spaces; blue sky that covers rocky landscapes, hot under the desert sun.
Dior in-house perfumer, François Demachy, signed this creation. The fragrance is announced as radically fresh, raw and noble at the same time. The composition is reportedly prevalent with carefully selected natural ingredients. Fresh top notes of Calabria bergamot encounter ambroxan, obtained from precious ambergris, and its woody trail.
Dior Sauvage comes out in September 2015, advertised by actor Johnny Depp. It is available as 60 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette.
>>18482258I wonder what Dior and Chanel will come up with now that Sauvage and BDC are starting to become the modern 1 million (the scent of every desperate indian guy at the club)
>>18482152Probably Rien II, but I like incense. It's basically Rien I with even more incense. Rien I is a more traditional leather chypre.
>>18482269indians dropped Sauvage back in 2018. Now jeet's taste are LV frags and clones, as well as pretty much whatever everyone here in /frag/ except me likes
>>18482317Wasn't Myslf supposed to be the Sauvage killer?
>>18482360I think Myslf might genuinely be too much of a generic corporate slop for even the normies to get excited about
Sauvage was actually a bit bold when it came out. the whole DNA is overused now, but it didn't smell like a random mix of safe bargain bin fragrances like Myslf does
>>18482317>tfw there are Indians out there wearing your signature fragrance
Jil Sander SUN eau de toilette, worth buy for a young lean sporty fresh blonde guy?
>>18482033Paper Soap by J-scent
>>18482376>so generic!Yes I'm sure the fragrance reviewers said that. Fact is, orange blossom wasn't a focus for men's fragrances until Myslf and now designers are releasing copycats with a little spin.
>>18482457It's more neutral than generic, it just smells like clean laundry and it barely resembles a perfume.
>>18482376>>18482360>>18482391LV Imagination clones (the new Aventus clones) and Myslf are the go-tos for SEXCORE SHOW BOBS SARS jeets. Sauvage is the least Indian least reddit scent in existence right now. On fact it's the most anti-indian
>>18482464That's what some people are looking for. Something that makes you smell good without drawing too much attention to the fact that you're wearing cologne.
>>18482457Neroli and orange blossom have been quite common in men's frags since way before Myslf, just think of 4711, and then Neroli Portofino.
Myslf is a painfully generic fragrance considering when it came out.
>>18482472Let me be more specific, it started the meta of designer floral targeting younger men. You had some popular men's floral fragrances like Reflectiom Man but they were niche and mature. You must concede Myself is a trendsetter.
Fragrance with this feel?
I just tried this at the store. It has no smell. I'm completely anosmic to it. Meaning, I'm severely handicapped. Today is a sad day.
>>18482520It's possible that it's just overloading your nose. I couldn't smell molecule 01 when I tried it, even though I can't be anosmic to ISO E because I can smell Terre d'Hermes and Encre Noire just fine
>>18482523I also tried Molecule 01 with ISO E Super and I found it quite pleasant, albeit weak. It reminded me of axe deodorant as a scent type, in a very broad sense, and in a good way of course. But molecule 02, nothing :(

Thoughts on Melody of the Sun by Mancera?
I just got a sample of Rien and I was expecting to get blown away by an animalic, pissy stink. It just smells like suede, resins, and incense to me. Am I a noselet? Was it reformulated? It smells totally OK. Thinking of buying actually.
It seems as though the frag thread has become increasingly infested with a creature most vile; one who spends it’s sorry days dilating in a cave, one who only crawls up for air and to shill the most redditroonesque of fragrance houses.
This creature compulsively shills the most Indian of scents (Sauvage, MYSLF, Arabslop clones) and the most Indian of brands (Vilhelm, Eldo, Nicolai). What a shame, the tranny chasing jeet has filled /frag/ to the brim with his “people”

Wearing Black Afgano at school earlier. Sauvage-wearing virgin jewish nerd looked around next to me in the elevator, trying to identify who's mogging his normie cologne. Chad wears Kouros, glanced at me and immediately gave me a nod after whiffing my scent and I give it back to him, we indirectly compliment each other.
Opinions on Etat Libre d'Orange?
Thingken about purchasing one of their smells, such as Exit the King or Remarkable People perhaps... but a lot of them smell pretty good in my opinion.
>>18483291it's pretty good for an amouage. but at that point just get oud oil, it's cheaper

>>18483313>Exit the KingSmells like a soap bar. Not like white musk. Not sweet. A bit buttery. Not recommended.
>Remarkable people Frizzy citrusy champagne. Casts a bright, fun mood. Elegant. Evanescent. Recommended if bought for cheap.
>>18483355Never tried king blue but silver oud is basically old sweat/smoke/metal sawdust/animalic + very dry vanilla to me.
>>18483315I like what it does with vanilla though. Wouldn't be the same without it. Vanilla oil that I can get smells way sweeter than what they used in silver oud.
>>18483339I've smelled a couple but might sample more, a lot of them at least sound interesting on paper. Thank you for pointing out the post with the samples that I stupidly overlooked
>>18483346Yes lots of interesting notes etc. Never know how to feel about the niche stuff, they do lay it on a little thick here with the description texts and so on, but I even end up liking most of those

Is owning all 4 of Grand Soir, L'Homme Ideal EDP, Eros Flame and Le Male Le Parfum redundant? Am I overdoing it?
If yes, which would you take out of this lineup? Bonus points if you say what you'd replace it with
>>18483388>which would you take out of this lineup?all four
>>18483407Suggest replacement winter scents then. I always like learning more
Anyone like Hermes Voyage or Dunhill Century? Both look solid for warm weather.
>>18483458>>18483458I like Voyage d'Hermes Parfum a lot. It smells like green tea with fresh cardamom and some light woodsy notes. In a very realistic and high quality way.
It's really easy to like and wear, probably more so than Terre, so it surprises me it's seemingly less popular. Can't imagine anyone hating this unless they hate cardamom.

Polo Green is my signature for the winter, the formulation was shit for a few years around 2018-2022 but they've fixed it and it fucking bangs now
>>18483474It doesn't have that much staying power either, but more than I remember Equus having. They are slightly similar.
>>18483474Ty to get your hands on Zara Oakwood. It's a limited release for the origins collection made by Suzy Le Helley. Smells like a more powerful, slightly more fresh Equus.

>>18483674>I have owned all of them and the EDT is the best imo,I can see it being good in a certain temperature and type of day and limited amount of sprays

Fuck I love my Acqua di Gio parfum but I’m getting the itch brehs. I wanna buy another bottle of something. Is there anything that’s similar but even better? Fresh but manly and I think it works for all seasons and situations.
I was thinking of trying out a proper foojer too this time.
>>18483687when a sample runs out I'll clear the 2mm flask with water and pour it into the diffuser bottle. Works well. You could probably just spray into the (empty) diffuser a few times, fill with water, stir and get neutral smelling reeds.

>>18483863You can still wear la nuit. Modern "sexy date" bestsellers all seem to be in the teenage gay indian rapist direction (stronger with you non-consensually, le male cum elixir etc)

Just got Kouros and Boss Number One.
They are pretty nice and people who act like little prudes when smelling this are fucking faggots noselets.
Kouros smells like old school soap with a pissy touch, smells musky but nothing to write home about. Pretty pleasant. This is just a first sniff out of the box, no dry down yet.
Number one is equaly as enjoyable, more tonic, less soapy, enjoyable pissy note, my nose pick up that rose, apple, honey, moss, it mixes beautifully with my sweat
I'm not disapointed, feels classic, something that I already smelled somewhere in time, feels familiar.
As I type this, Kouros is becoming more and more musky and Number One's tobacco note is opening up.
Lovely stuff.

Since foul odors of all sorts are successfully employed in perfumery since they're always paired with pleasant notes, why has nobody ever used the smell of cadavers ? It's the only exception I can think of, everything else has been toyed with

I got a bottle of Frederic Malle's Cologne Bigarade. It's not what I expected, I was expecting a typical cologne with juicy citrus on the top followed by a refreshing scent. Instead the bitter orange top is... bitter, and very dry. The whole fragrance is dry, I don't get rose but I do get a little pepper. Mainly what I get after the bitter orange is a very green grassy scent which makes sense for the hay note. For me it's not the damp smell of dry hay but a green hay and with the pepper it's a bit spicy. It brings an image of a horse but not a stinky horse, a frolicking horse on a meadow. It would definitely attract a horse girl. Instead of a playful fresh scent it's very somber, instead of shorts and a t-shirt, it's slacks and a blazer. As someone who enjoys fragrances with mild longevity this one really pushes the limit. I don't think anyone looking for more than a literal couple of hours should look at this. At least you can spray to your heart's content and it's great on clothes. In my collection it's great for a cologne when I don't want the fresh juicy casual summer fragrance. It's a nice all purpose scent so it would be great to be known for it and a good default when you don't have something specific in mind. I think it would work in all seasons but clearly it wont project much when it's cool.

YSL just completely changed the smell of it. Aside from a faint whisper of the Y dna they're diametrically different fragrances. So different that they changed the bottle too. Something about the old Parfum smelling too similar to their bestseller EDP I guess.
It's still pretty damn good in its own right but in a different way. It's definitely overhated by fans of the old formulation. >>18484462Literally the best private line out there, you really can't go wrong with any of their classics.
Correct me if I'm wrong but you asking this makes me think you'd blind buy but I would recommend getting like 1-2ml samples of most of their most popular fragrances, based on her note preferences (e.g. she likes vanilla -> Spiritueuse Double Vanille is the best vanilla on the market or Neroli Outrenoir if she's a fan of tea notes).
I highly doubt there's a single fragrance in this line she wouldn't like, but I also guarantee that she'd be head over heels in love with at least one of them which would make your gift all the more special and meaningful. Yes it'd kinda dampen the surprise but that's a fair trade-off imo.

>>18484466Iconic Harmony would be your best bet because it both offers an extra gift for her in the form of being able to test 8 different fragrances from the best line in perfumery. It'd also allow you to plan for a future gift in a full bottle of the fragrance she likes most.
I'm still a fan of getting decants from a reliable place for her to test but I'm also surprised at how good the set is. Only staples it's missing are Tobacco Honey, Fève Gourmande and Rose Barbare (and maybe Iris Torréfié if she's an iris girlie).
I say definitely pull the trigger on the set and get her whatever she liked most from it at a later point. If you can also somehow get your hands on the three I mentioned, even better. Godspeed
