Since everybody's saying down, I'd recommend the alpha industries n3b parka. The coats I had prior were all down and I couldn't stand all the feathers I'd find on my clothes.

I ordered the slim fit blue n3b one size up and wore it for a year. It's easy to put on, has lots of pockets, and it's extremely warm. I'll probably get four or five more years out of it.

I got a nice insulated parka but the coldest it gets here is usually a few days of 2-3Β°C. I find it hot when I walk longer than 10min but perfect when I wait at the bus stop with windchill.

If you’re looking for something more Americana/vintage, go with an N1 deck jacket. Higher quality versions like Real McCoys or Iron Heart are lined with actual wool or alpaca. If you instead want a down puffer, Rocky Mountain Featherbed is it.

UNIQLO extra warm thermals + wool sweater + down jacket. Merino beanie, merino scarf, and ski mitts if it's very cold. I only got my scarf last winter and it was a total game changer. My face was freezing numb in the coldest winter days but I can now cover my face and keep it warm. Buy a good scarf.

Thoughts on these style of jackets?

Is there a certain aesthetic you need to have or do they work fine with everyday type wear.

Trying to move away from polyester etc and have a wardrobe of natural fibres but it seems so hard when it comes to jackets

I worked in a walk in freezer in a grocery store for a year. If you're working you need even less because you're moving around. I wore a cotton hoodie in there. As long as you are WORKING you won't feel cold. It's only when you're just sitting still that 20s feel cold.

The lowest temp I ever get is -20, but my winter jacket is just a Filson waxed canvas cruiser. I'll layer with an undershirt, a long sleeve wool shirt, and a shetland wool sweater. The wool keeps me extremely toasty and the waxed canvas is better than expected at keeping water and wind out. When I got all this stuff I worked for a trucking company crawling in, out, and around trailers all day so I needed something that wouldn't snag. Down coats or really long jackets wouldn't work.

Guess has clothes that look good but don't last for love or money. I had a coat very much like the one you posted and within a month of having it the seams started giving out and coming apart. This happens even with simple garments like their t-shirts. It's disgusting how cheap and shoddy the wares have become. I don't even go into Guess anymore because I know it's not worth it to buy anything they're selling.
