30 year old boomer here. You don't need products or a skincare routine to have nice skin. Your ancestors all had perfect skin despite never bathing and never paying attention to their skin.

All you need to do is the following:

>Eat a clean whole foods diet that contains plenty of proteins and animal fats.
>Dairy is a problem for some people and not others. For me it's cow fat specifically, so I avoid cream and milk, but yogurt and butter gives me no issues. Pay attention to how food affects your break outs.
>Get regular cardiovascular exercise. Doesn't have to be excessive or high effort.
>Get regular sun. Obviously don't burn your face off, but the sun is good for you and will help regulate your hormones.
>Try to reduce stress.
>Stop gooning. Cortisol spikes = acne.

Don't let the Jewish skincare industry convince you that putting a bunch of carcinogenic slop on your face is the only way to happiness. It's not. It will only make you dependent on them, just like with medications for chronic illnesses in general. You want to treat the root of the problem, not the symptoms, and the root of the problem goes way beyond the surface of your skin.

>Stop washing your face excessively. Once a day with cold water will suffice. Your oil production will regulate itself if you just stop stripping it off 4 times a day. Every time you wash with soap and/or hot water you strip your face of its protective layer and make it easy for bacteria to enter, which causes more acne and dry skin.

Don't let the Jewish skincare industry convince you that putting a bunch of carcinogenic slop on your face is the only way to happiness. It's not. It will only make you dependent on them, just like with medications for chronic illnesses in general. Yeah, basically. When you're constantly irritating your skin and stripping it of its natural oils it's going to make you more susceptible to infection. Same deal if your immune system is weak and can't fight off things like staph infections, which most people do on a regular basis.

The alternative is that it's a genetic condition and it's completely out of his control. In which case the only solution is to go to the store and spend money on some magical solution.

Which do you think is more likely though?

I fucking hate my skin texture. I'm 25/m but somehow look 10 years older even though I never smoke, I never drink and I wear spf50+ anytime I step outside.
Tretinoin has helped me a lot with acne but I have yet to see any of the promised anti aging benefits
What's worse is that tret made my eye area more sensitive and dry, which looks worse now than it did before, so now I have to use tret very sparingly and put vaesline on my eye area.
I have had a consistent skin care routine for years using all types of active ingredients, and they have def helped me fight acne and oiliness but I fail to see any improvement on the actual skin texture.
I workout, drink lots of water, eat 3 eggs everyday and have been taking collagen supplements recently. My diet is by no means perfect but def better than that of the average Joe.
My body is pale but my face has this weird brownish taint with some red spots on my cheeks for some reason.
My messed up sleep schedule is definitely part of the blame which I'm gonna fix but I'm wondering what else I need to do?
I just wanna look young bro

Figuring out whether or not a product will cause acne for you is a matter of trial and error. I can't use cerave due to allergies but I know a lot of people rave about the stuff in the tub.
A lot of people rave about avene cicalfate for moisture barrier repair as well. It wasn't for me but it has zinc in it which can be really good. Same stuff that is in diaper rash cream. I've tried incorporating avene products back into my routine because I loved extreme emulsion but their other stuff seems to drive my skin ballistic.
>>18484189

Please don't. Dermarollers are not equivalent to what professionals use. It can cause infections and scarring. I now a lot of people rave about professional microneedling but I don't have the money for that.

My entire skincare routine consist of washing my face with water once a day in the lukewarm shower.

my eneven skin texture (little atrophic scars from acne in teenage yers) has been getting better little by little for the past 2 years ive been using retinoids. i think retinoids and vit c serum worked best for me in terms of that. the ordinary 30% chemical peel probably contributes to that too. i notice improvement only every 3-6 months and it is not much but its steady improvement over long term i guess

I shave my head, and I was getting a lot of folliculitis spots on my scalp, but also on other parts of my face that I shave. They'd show up and stay there for a couple weeks. I started doing the BP wash after shaving each day, and also at night before bed, and that has helped a lot. I still occasionally get red spots/whiteheads around my face though, in spots I don't shave (upper cheeks, nose, forehead). And the other day after I skipped the BP wash before bed, I got 3 red spots the next morning. Two have since gone away already, but one is persisting... I also get acne across my body, like upper back, upper chest, shoulders, etc... so idk what the problem is.

First, i have the basics covered: hydratation, non processed food, no cigs/alcohol, no drugs, avoid stress, sleeping at least 7h, not going on the sun wo suncreen, avoid sun at all. My routine is:
>water based cleasening, dont use makeup so i didnt choose an oil one, when i feel like
>vitamin c serum with cafeine once day
>non comedogenic moisturizer twice day
>granactive retinoid 2-3 times per week

I think this specific serum is causing me acne so i might change it. My skin is oily, so maybe i should have a oil cleasening. Also i was learning about korean approach, and, you might think it is bullshit but i like their approach. So i want to try some products. My skin looks kinda red on some parts, i think i have rosacea, so if any rec.

I had part of seb derm (the fungi involved usually the same for psoriasis, seb derm and dandruff) cleared using mg217 psoriasis cream AND cover the part with saran wrap for 1 hour at least and best is the longest you can stand (4 hours for me), you want the location to be always wet-ish with the ointment if youre not using the saran wrap. Beware this will block your pores and get you pimples and even rashes and more irritation/dermatitis. And also coal tar or sulphur ointment will stain your clothing. You should also limit refined sugar while fixing this.

Hello nonnies.

What can I do to calm inflammation?! :(

This newish inflammation is ruining my confidence. It started around the time I began using Naturium leave on BHA, so I’m cutting that out.

Other products I use are as follows:

1) La Roche Posay foaming cleansing oil
2) Naturium niacinamide cleansing geleΓ© (soon switching to vit C version)
3) Corsx 96% snail mucin filtrate
3.5) Prescribed tretinoin cream (0.025%, 3x/wk)
4) Corsx all in one snail cream mixed with LPR double repair mattifying ceramide moisturizer

Starting ice rolling again tomorrow as cold calms inflammation and focusing on an anti-inflammatory diet as gut is off too. But what else can I do/use/buy?

I’ve already been tested extensively for lupus, IBDs, and the like. I do have mild Ehlers Danlos
Syndrome and eczema with atopic dermatitis if that’s relevant. On Dupixent for it.

A matcha and honey mask helped a little, and I sleep on a 22 momme silk pillow case.

Everything topical burns, even water. I’ve had it.

0.1% is very strong.
It's always recommended to start with 0.025% (btw it's way stronger than the Ordinary retinal 0.2% despite the lower percentage) as your first tube and then just progressively increase the percentage (0.025% -> 0.05% -> 0.1%) as your skin gets used to it and you're able to apply them every day or every other day without much discomfort besides peeling, that's the most optimal routine as far as I know.
>how often should I continue reapplying?
Depends on how your skin reacts. With 0.025% I applied it every 3 days for 3 weeks, then every other day on week 4 followed by 6 days a week on my 5th or 6th week. Since you're on 0.1% maybe do it once every 5 days or once a week and decide from there?
Also try doing the sandwich method, you apply moisturizer both before and after applying tret, it should help a bit.

I was looking into concealer too. There's Stryx on Amazon that's basically made for men as a one and done because they correctly assumed we don't know the million steps involved.

Is that a good one or are there others worth checking out? I don't care if it's considered feminine anymore, my looks have taken a beating from this condition and I'm willing to go outside my comfort zone.

Sorry to keep tagging you, but I’ve done my research on Stryx concealer and it appears to have solid ingredients. As with any makeup, make sure you cleanse well after the day is done. I personally find concealer sticks to be a bit heavy and they can clog my pores, but if you are blending well, and light handed, you may not have that problem. My go to concealer is the classic Tarte shape tape applied with the wand and blended with a foundation brush. Ingredients to avoid with makeup include mineral oil and talc.

> holy grails and strategies to shave balls
Hot shower and a safety or a regular razor. Shaving cream is good but not needed if you’re carefull, don’t rush and shave with short strokes.
Other good option is to use depilatory creams and powders for sensitive skin.
Trick to use them correctly is time and application. The limit is about 5-6 minutes before you have to wash it off, so what you can do is apply it first on a pubic area around the shaft, then on the parts of shaft you have hair on, and lastly on your balls. Last area to apply it should be front of the balls where your shaft lies on.
Wait 5 minutes or however the instruction tells you to and then thoroughly wash under lots of water but don’t rub it in, imagine clearing crumbs from your shirt or pants. After 2-3 minutes you should be clean.
You know gou fucked up if you have a burning sensation somewhere, if that happens you need to wait less next time, or don’t apply cream there entirely and just shave.

tret does not fix acne, it speeds up cell turnover in your skin and gets the stuff thats deep in your skin to the outer layer faster (purging). afterwards, you basically see less of acne. the underlying cause might be anything (diet, unhealthy lifestyle, hormones, environmental effect etc)
>Should I go cold turkey and see what happens?
you could, but more important is what your doc said

your skin is not dependent on tret after you started using it. i think retinoic acid (this is the thing that tret becomes once in your skin) is synthesized in your body anyway, regardlesss of retinoid usage
it is advised to continue using sunscreen 1-2 weeks after last retinoid application

Not bad as is, but try incorporating a leave in conditioner or curl cream. I use Rizzo’s. Rake through, avoiding getting it directly on the scalp.

Use a diffuser to dry hair if it’s staying wet for days. Simply scoop up hair toward scalp and let it sit for a few seconds and repeat. Doing this upside down helps volume. Avoid dry brushing/combing waves. It’ll make it frizzier. To keep hair nice at night, I suggest a silk pillowcase or bonnet. Beneficial for everyone imo.

To test porosity, take some hair from your comb and put it in a cup of water.
Skinks immediately? Porous and may want an oil after drying in addition to your leave in. Hard to retain moisture as cuticle lets it out. Look for ingredients like coconut oil or shea butter. Use a spray bottle to wet hair before applying leave in product.

Floats? Or floats then sinks? Lower porosity and would see benefits from a leave in applied on wet hair straight out of the shower.

you are 100% right but applying products on an oily skin will always leave the skin feeling dirty if you dont wash it at the start/end of the day with either hot water or a cleanser. ive used foaming cleansers for 2 years and just now found about oil cleansers. they are not aggressive, it's like washing with water but more nutritive

anyway anyone using tret should be extra careful about using a cleanser this is my advice. not using a cleanser would be preferable. even if your skin feels resilient for some time it will eventually break if you exfoliate harshly with foaming cleansers

hmm, maybe try one or two more times once you recover. make sure to ease in, leave it on for 2-4 minutes based on your earlier experience with glycolic acid and then add one more minute every next use. you could also try applying a product that will neutralize acid/low ph on your skin after washing it off.
if that wont work, perhaps glycolic acid is not the best for you and maybe try other AHA eg mandelic or even milder - lactic. not sure whats their anti-aging potential though

use it long term for overall skin health benefits. it will speed up skin turnover, clear pores, brighten and even skin tone, reduce wrinkles, etc. retinoids are one of the goats of skincare.

pretty sure the scar reduction though.

also 0.3% is the only strength i've see studies on for reducing scars and it's prescription only.

have read people posting online that 0.1% works too. you should probably go at least a full year. seems like a lot but it's no big deal once you have the routine established.

Is all this hyaluronic acid going to waste considering how much I am putting on?
Anonymous No.18513595 >>18513803
>>18513426
just keep in mind that hyaluronic acid is extremely overrated. it provides some additional temporary hydration which has no long term effect. some people notice their skin is more "plump" or "filled" after use but thats probably because they dehydrated.
also if you use too much of it and/or live in arid or dry climate/house, it can actually dry out your skin - many such cases all around internets where people start understanding its not that great. i imagine it must be super cheap to formulate and use in skincare products. then just slap that name on the package and sales will come in easily. people buy HA products because it is mentioned everywhere, so they want one too (which is an interesting psychological aspect of marketing).
however, low molecular HA seems to have long term effects, but i have not seen much clinical data on it. another advantage is that it helps other ingredients to penetrate skin.
with that in mind
>hyaluronic acid face foam
wouldnt care much as its gone from your face within next minute. dont think it can absorb during that time but i might be wrong
>toner with 7 different molecular weighted hyaluronic acid
>ultra-low molecular hyaluronic acid serum
if you really want a dedicated product with HA, choose one of these. ask chatgpt which one is better based on inci list. personally i would skip both. i had a "7 low molecular level HA sunscreen" and it just dried the fuck out of me even when applying a heavier moisturizer beforehand
>moisturizer with hyaluronic acid
really depends about concentration (which you see rarely on the package) and/or line of products (does it say super water splash juice bomb extreme hydration?). i think majority of moisturizers have some form of hyaluronic and you cant avoid it. my cerave body lotion has it too; it does not dry me out so dont really care

- wash face with water (cleanser is optional in the morning unless you are super oily)
- cerave am
pm routine
- wash face with clenser (to get rid of sunscreen)
- wait 15-20 minutes
- cerave resurfacing retinol serum
- (optional: wait 15-20 minutes and apply moisturizer)

cool, but remember: the most important thing is that if something works for you, keep using it regardless what me and others say here or on reddit or anywhere else. basically listen to your skin. its the key to good skincare

other anons gave you good recs already (especially cicaplast baume). here is my take: use only sunscreen in am and petroleum jelly at night from now on until you are good. if moisturizer does not sting you, use that too.

check mineral sunscreen reviews on youtube and see how they look after application. i think majority of them look like this but there were a few that were above average. i think doctorly had a video on youtube talking about one

looks good, i would skip melano cc (was it vit c serum?) and acne cream on exfoliating days (if you are not already)

looks like it has retinol too, nice

Anyone ever been prescribed clobetasol propionate?
It doesn't seem to be doing anything for me.

How often do you guys use an exfoliating sponge? I try doing it only two days a week, but it always leaves my face (particularly high-cheeks) extremely sensitive to most of my products, esp acids. Im unsure if im doing something wrong, cause the acids dont normally burn and I make sure to be gentle when scrubbing

Thats some strong corticosteroid, not sure why youre using it but its not advisable to use on thin (armpit, neck, genital area, skin folds) or facial area unless your dermatologist cleared its use for you. Its usually used for seb derm or psoriasis or eczema on the scalp (yeah scalp is also pretty thin, fuck if I know why they used it there) and other places.

Yeah, that's what they prescribed it for, though I'm not sure it was actually helping, nor am I sure that's actually what the issue is...

Unfortunately, its only (for me) useful for calming it down. It can help the daily plaque/scale dandruff buildup and leave your scalp clean but reddish, irritated and inflamed. You(we) gotta find suitable moisturizer or ointment to help the scalp heal while fighting the fungal bullshit that comes with seb derm. Some go nuclear and just go bald or very short hair and found quick fix with petroleum based moisturizer or emollient which I guess your derm probably prescribed to you already for use with the clobesatol. Lots of stuff can contribute to it. From gut issues, gluten (or the glyphosate used in grain product), zinc copper balance (these 2 are also important for skin, there are tests for this but shit can get expensive), vitamin d (immune system and skin, general health), stress, nightshades, milk, needing more sunlight but not the burning shit, too much processed sugar. Try limiting food stuff mentioned to help your scalp heal and change pillowcase and bedsheet more often.

Eh, the thing is I already do shave my head. So that's what's so frustrating, whatever the issue is... is pretty visible. I did the clobetasol for a week, and all it did was burn (when I put it on, and also occasioanlly later in the day), so I'm stopping it (weening off gradually since it's a steroid). They also prescribed selenium sulfide shampoo, which also hasn't seemed to do much. Fwiw, I haven't actually been to a derm, just did an online call with a GP who I sent pics to, who consulted with a derm on the prescriptions. I may need to get a real appointment. The seb derm rash is one thing, but I keep getting infected follicles on my face/scalp.

You need to moisturize at least the part of your head or face having the seb derm patch after any shampoo/soap, since dry = more inflamed, you can try mct oil or plain vaseline. Coconut oil is cheaper but its not advisable since it has components that feed the fungal infection (whilst still having anti fungal components) and clog pores. There are coal tar or sulfur cream for topical use as well but they gonna smell, and you have to cover your head as those can make your scalp even more uv sensitive. There are some other shampoo like coal/pine tar based, ketoconazole, zinc pyrithione or piroctone olamine and/or rotate them. You can also try swimming in the sea as weird as it sounds.

I've been moisturizing, but not too much since that tends to give me acne. I've probably fucked up my skin/scalp though. Idk if I should continue using the antifungal shampoos or stop for a while. I've also been using a BP wash to try and fight acne. It's bad enough right now that I'll probably have to stay home from work tomorrow.
