It's fascinating to me how Seikofags are proud to be Seikofags.

Just saying that both are quartz and look 90% alike, one is around 1K (which is already too much) and the other is 15K.
Any non watchfag would look at both and say that it's pretty much the same watch, "Vacheron" being obscure and niche for most people.
>>18489420>both are quartzNo. The VC has a manual wind movement.
https://goldammer.me/collections/sold/products/vacheron-constantin-2098-square-malachite-1970s
It's 10k eurobucks, not 15k. It's also solid gold and incredibly rare (only a handful of VC with stone dials were made). The price was very reasonable btw. It was up for sale this morning and sold within 30 minutes.
>b-b-b-b-b-but people can't tell the differenceYou're missing the point of vintage.
I'm not saying the Dennison is bad btw. I'd probably get it over pretty much anything else in that price point.
I was at my supermarket the other day, buying toilet paper with my 5K IWC pilot at my wrist, and they had a cheap watches display where they also sell vapes and shit, the watches were from 30โฌ to maybe 150โฌ max, it looked like picrel.
I looked at it, then at the 5K on my wrist, then back again, it looked exactly like the same kind of watch. The bracelets look the same, either leather or steel, the dials look like dials, the finishing good enough. Then i thought, "if i stay too long looking at this display, people will legit think that i bought my IWC there". So i walked away in embarrassment.

>>18489438>the logo is bad thoI donโt think it is. They could have done a lot more wrong, like use a bizarre typeface or add an unnecessary logo. As it is, itโs pretty subdued.
Putting the wordmark at the 12 oโclock position would be more traditional, but the off center position is consistent with the 60โs/70โs style of the collection.
Unless thereโs something wrong with it, like being a 42mm square or itโs 15mm thick, or itโs laughably overpriced, this is a fine dress watch that you donโt have to feel bad about not wearing that often.

There is aq4060, which needs no introduction, it's the one local schizophrenic has. In steel, with revolting cum dial, it's the cheapest and the worst.
Then things get interesting. There is aq4091 in titanium with paper dial and it is obviously much, much better, but it has problems i will explain in second part.
>>18490688There is aq4100, which no longer has paper dial, instead it's this sort of but not really meteorite dial. But when you look at these to together you can see it has vastly superior case. Their most affordable mechanical shitters are advertised at +45 / -35 SECONDS A DAY lmao. Why are people even okay with this?
Honestly if you're short on money just get a Casio or a ~1k eurobucks micro shitter with a Peseux/ETA 7001 (advertised accuracy of 0/+7 seconds a day). Or even a vintage Omega, these watches are indestructible. Even a Swatch offers better value than a modern Seiko.
Seiko really is the lazy man option. You only buy these because they're available everywhere.

>>18491691>be (You)>buy a Seiko>+35 seconds a day because no luck>complain at Seiko>"sorry gaijin it's within the advertised specs NO REFUND">be smart buyer>buy a COSC certified Serica for the same price>+7 seconds a day because no luck>complain at Serica>"we're so sorry sir, would you prefer an exchange or a refund?"
>>18491702Was going to say this.
Realistically, more or less any movement can be adjusted to offer COSC-grade performance, but that takes time and money. Seiko doesnโt bother with that with most of their watches.
The best you can get with a Seiko is to nudge the regulator into acceptable timekeeping. But a full 5 or 6 position adjustment? That requires a watchmaker and more money than the watch itself is worth new.
>>18488546 (OP)i like it. very unintrusive to wear. dial texture is subtle enough to not trun old as quickly as i expected. struggles with direct light more than other watches. wouldn't pay boutique price for it. all in all quite satisfied
>>18491724>filename>date on the watch>lowercaste writingYawn.
>>18491724>struggles with direct light more than other watchesYou would think for a couple of thousands seiko could have at least put some anti reflective coating on it.
what watches/brands are the most popular in korea?
>>18491740Are you talking about Korean-made watches?
There are some Korean brands like Julius and Romanson.
In terms of the luxury market, though, the Koreans are like everyone else: Rolex, Cartier, Omega.
>>18490596classy power move
Bracelets suck. Titanium ones might pass.
That being said I always buy my watches with a bracelet just in case I hit my head hard enough to want to wear one.
>>18491763chinese bracelets suck yes
>>18491751>Are you talking about Korean-made watches?no, just in general what watches/brands are the most popular there among average people
>>18490853its /fa/ approved
Any opinions on Doxa? I am thinking about buying the 200t as a travel watch. Is the Sellita SW200-1 any good?
>>18491962Just get seestern, the quality is the same.
>>18491967Its not the same dammit.
>>18490853They're okay.
The weekender line up is probably their best effort, wish they made an upscale version of the weekender with applied indices, sapphire and better materials. Probably the only brand i'd even consider getting quartz from because indiglo is kind of cool.
>>18491967How can you even say that?
Everyone I know under the age of 50 wears either:
>timex
>casio
>seiko
or a smartwatch
>>18492023hey now, don't forget the hugo boss fuckboys and armanitards
That being said, I've seen Vostoks, Omegas, Breitlings, Citizens, Bulovas, microshitters, etc. in my general area, funnily enough damn near all popular 'watch person' brands other than Rolex. Think I caught one flannel wearing retard wearing a milgayass and that's about it.
Those three are certainly the most accessible, popular and they make a decent looking watch.
>>18491725sir I am BRAHMIN
>>18491967lol retard
>>18491962great watch, legit legacy brand, worn by Jacques Cousteau in this color.
The 200t is also the size i'd chose. I dislike beads of rice bracelets tho.
What watch do you buy as a present for your dad for $15,000?
>>18492140invicta pro sex diver 68mm chronograph
>>18492140Rolex Explorer 2
>>18492140How old is he, how does his day look like, what's his stance on watches?
>>18491691Doubt that you can CONSISTENTLY get them down to that. You might get one or a batch of them to behave but no way you can get them all regulated that tight.
Recommend me a watch. Keep in mind Iโm an unemployed 38 year old schizophrenic who gets raped by Jews daily. Also Iโm being gangstalked by a discord tranny groomer gang led by the janitor of this board. Thank you in advance.
>>18492140Chopard Alpine Eagle
>>18492276>>18491385>Chopard Alpine EagleIt looks good in videos I almost want one but be honest bros is it on par with an AP
>45mm in diameter
>14mm thick
>5 different fonts on the dial
>"TECH"
>rubber strap with ugly endlinks
>$23k
What even is Swatch trying to do with Blancpain?
>>18492301>is it on par with an APIn terms of build quality and finishing, yes. Theyโre very well made. The dials are incredible.
The elephant in the room is that it will always have more than a whiff of โcouldnโt afford an APRO?โ Thereโs no doubt that itโs a me-too watch.
>his watch has a Powermatic 80
I just bought an aragon divemaster with a swiss movement. How fucked am I?
>>18492557It's an h10, thank you very much.
Got this.. I like the brand. What do you guys think?
>>18492397I like the dial, numerals, hands, and matte bezel insert a lot better than the standard FF.
But yeah the "Tech" is retarded and 45 is just too much.
>>18492397>>18492669This is not intended to be a big-selling watch. Itโs more of a demonstration of new and upcoming technologies. In this case, itโs the super-black dial and the quick release strap system, among other things.
This follows the Tech3 and the Tech Gonbessa and the 500 Fathoms.
Iโd be surprised if they made more than 1000 of them.
Itโs like the PloProf or the DSSD.
I think the existence of this new model would be less frustrating if BP could simply make the FF that we all want.
>>18489933I don't know about that last requirement, but otherwise Baltany has stuff like that for under your budget. they might have day date too, but I'm not going to search for you
where can I get seiko links without getting scammed? or should i just scrap that and get a leather strap?
>>18492995Seiko bracelets are crap anyway just get a strap.
>>18492998but are they really crap?
>>18492995Get a new watch instead.
>>18492719>new 38mm meme tier ladies FF in pink or gold, with mother of pearl dial>no date>new regular collection 38mm FF in steel>has the shitty date window at 4:30>19mm lug widthFUCK
There is ALWAYS something wrong with this watch.
>>18492719>>18493088If they took the cool tech, but made it in the classic dimensions, they would have a perfect watch and still be able to charge premium prices.
42mm x 13mm in polished stainless steel, just like 1953, with 20mm wide lugs
No date.
No BLANCPAIN engraving on the side of the case.
Closed caseback (or, better still give customers both, like GO does with their diver)
You want to add cool features like a vantablack dial, solid lume blocks for the indices, sapphire bezel insert? Fine.
Crazy screw bars to affix the strap? Fine, as long as you give customers the tool to change straps.
Lads, why shouldnโt I buy a Zenith a384 revival on a ladder bracelet?
>>18493092>4:30 dateIs there a no-date option?
>>18493090They just need to make a 1:1 reproduction of picrel with a realistic price (ie 12-15k eurobucks).
>>18493095No, only option is a different dial, which is also hideous, but I think that is the point a48yr
>>18493090Bezel is already sapphire across the regular FF range (not on the Bathyscaphe if I'm not mistaken) and boy is that thing shiny. Makes the largter models unwearable even more so than the diameter.
>>18493112>not on the Bathyscaphe if I'm not mistakenCorrect. The Bathyscaphe uses the LiquidMetal ceramic that Omega uses in the Planet Ocean
>>18493125You know, the more I see the Bathyscaphe, the more I like it.
>>18492654That date window
Shame they cut small seconds
I only want to wear dress watches now.
>>18493138I was thinking this one. But the case finish can wear and canโt be polished very well
>>18493487I think when you buy a watch like that, you have to accept that the finish will wear. Like buying raw denim.
Consider how some of the original PVD Paneraiโs look, or for that matter, how an old Rolex President looks when itโs been worn everyday.
