Well this hot take got me thinking that maybe I should up my shΕ“ game. I'm no spring chicken anymore and a lot of my casual/weekend shoes are mesh sneakers.

Can we discuss /fa/worthy footwear for men of various ages? Everything ranging from work, dressed-up/night out, and casual counts.

If you're 30+ and have a mildy casual white collar career, brown and black loafers are pretty standard. Pair that with something like chinos and a button down shirt. You can wear invisible socks with those or standard dress socks.

Dressed up depends. Your loafers can play double duty these days. If you really want to look sharp and are pulling out the suit and tie, try brown or black cap toe oxfords. Wearing a tux? Black patent leather opera pumps or patent leather cap toe oxfords.

Casual depends on how you like to look in your off time, loafers are again popular with more traditional casual ensembles, but you could wear clean old school white canvas sneakers and look classy with the right outfit.

I am 30+ and was thinking I might buy picrel for rainy days and then other picrel for just casual outing walking the city etc. I have "nice" dressy shoes that I tend to wear at work (smart casual workplace) and special events, and then I have waterproof boots for hikes or real mud, several pairs of mesh sneakers (same thing in different colours) for summer/being a bum and just getting out walking all day.

For some reason a couple years ago I felt right in my sneakers and now I just don't anymore, they just don't seem to suit me anymore.

Sorry anon forgot to reply. I do like Chelsea boots but I don't think I can ever pull them off. I had a pair many years ago and barely wore them, and when I did I felt odd in them. Maybe I could give them another go

Those are influencers, OP. Their hot takes are literal propaganda for those who are chronically online.

This fag thinks we have to dress in /menswear/ for the rest of our lives once we hit 30 and look like we’re going for a job interview in Seattle.

I know anon, I wasn't really caring about he copypasta, and I ain't even a longhair (gosh I wish I was and allah willing I will be in about 6-8 months), but the post itself just got me thinking about shoes, and about how shoes give a particular impression

The op didn't put anything out about preferences or suggesting what he liked, so classic menswear is a viable suggestion unless he doesn't want that.

I would recommend giving them another chance, even if trying them on in a shoe store. They're extremely versatile and generally very comfortable.

If I may ask, how much time do you spend combing-out your hair, anon? Not brushing, not styling, just combing it out; to keep it detangled and uniformly oied and to stimulate the hair follicles and such

oh god I can't help but wonder if there's a third tier of brass buttons that are pointing straight down to his/her dick. It's so sad to see a bloke gather various elements of good style and then use them all at once. this guy is like Judge Doom at age 13

Well anon this is an important point you're making. In my personal circumstance, I'm a man who cares what other men think. It's different than meeting the expectation of females in many ways, but in other ways it's the same. I want to be a gentleman that gentlemen are attracted to.

You should get a wide-toothed comb and comb it out, in layers, from scalp to ends, just once a week. A peaceful 30mins, on maybe Sunday, of self care for your hair will go a long way. Washing, conditioning, brushing is all nice and well, but nothing is healthier for your hair, scalp and follicles than a slow deep comb. Once a week, it's not that hard and it goes a long way.

Less than a minute, my hair doesn't tangle easily and I use a horn comb so it glides through without grabbing hair and ripping it out like a stamp pressed plastic comb does.

I got my shoewear today bros and they're pretty great. I'm going to re-lace them but I'm pretty happy. The boots are fucking amazing, most comfortable boots I think I've ever had. I have a pair of boots for actual hiking and mud and shit, these will just be my urban boots for rainy days and winter and such. Gonna look great with my trapper hat :3

but anon it's good for the scalp, slow careful combing (especially with very long hair) is good for the follicles but it takes time. it's an important part of self-respecting hair care routine. my hair is still only about 4-5inches at the longest so combing it a bit after a shower is enough, but when it's long it gets skeevy and grubby, and also if the follicles start to get unhealthy or grow weak hair it's super obvious when it's so long
