I've been shaving my head for about 5 years, but I'm at least fortunate enough to have really dark hair. Obviously it's much thinner on top, hence the buzzpill. But even when I shave bald, there' still a bit of a shadow.
But I've actually found what you've said to be quite untrue. Women in their mid-late 20s are not very accepting of balding, in that they find a weird hairline very offputting and sickly. If I go maybe 4-5 days without shaving my head, it becomes a lot more noticeable that the sides are much thicker than the top. Younger women look at me with disgust during this stage.
When I've just freshly shaved that same day, my whole head looks uniform - and women respond far better to it, because it looks like I may actually be shaving by choice and not necessity. It's a weird psychological thing, but I get way more looks and positive interactions when I've just ran a razor over my dome than when I've let it settle for a few days.
