I don't know where you got that idea from, longevity's nothing special but perfectly acceptable considering the price.
You can also opt for Dakar, which is cheaper and more similar to the early formulation of DN.
Plenty of cheap scents you can get for the rest of the summer, but if you want a classic, arguably dated, aromatic fougere this is it.

TDH and H24 are extremely different, both from a structural and olfactory standpoint. I’ve always been quite interested In TDH, both because of its simplicity and success. In my eyes it is one of the most well-made designer fragrances in existence, particularly the Parfum version. Ellena is the master of creating realistic fragrances while using as little aromachemicals as possible, which is something that cannot be said for Christine Nagel. If memory serves me correctly, there are circa 80 different molecules in H24, in TDH there are 22.

I think you would like it. Its quite different than Caron and it has good longevity under clothes. I did find the top notes to smell a bit like mint toothpaste but not in a bad way. Once it dries down a bit the lavender and vanilla comes through and is quite crisp and fresh. If you work indoors you would probably get most of a day out of it. I work outside and on a medium impact hot day I can expect 5-6hrs from it. On a low impact cool day you could get 8 hours easily at least if you spray on your chest under clothes.

There are no frags you can buy that actually make you smell like a real man should smell. I suggest you collect your sweat, your urine and your feces. You mix those together and distill them and then add a bit of lavender oil and vetiver oil. Not too much though. Just enough to shave off the harshest animalic edges of your distilled secretions. Then you add alcohol. The concentration is up to you.

No idea on YSL Y, but, I've seen this spoken about for Guerlain, that 'always get the Edt'. But, in other industries, you could intuitively say that later additions are improvements, therefore, the later flankers are 'better' than the original (some flankers obviously being money grabs nonetheless)

Eh, something like Drakkar Noir for example is what I'd call masculine, that kind of clean, aromatic freshness, though it does smell dated to me now. Cool Water (and Green Irish Tweed) is another one in a different genre.
Then there's Fahrenheit, although I'm not a huge fan, I prefer the clean soapy kind of fougere.
But all of these came out four decades ago and as I said, although they're good and I'd wear them, they have a vintage feel and I'm looking for a more modern take on that clean masculine freshness.

I've heard people say that when they're developing a new fragrance, the EdT is the best one which gets chosen for release, and the flankers are all of the runners up which they didn't think were as good.
Obviously for Guerlain Vetiver or Habit Rouge this can't be true since the original versions came out decades ago.
But maybe for newer fragrances it could be the case.

What are some nieche nice fresh and clean long lasting frags can you guys recommend? I way buyng a lot of heavier and sweeter stuff, need to get something fresh.

I have now PdM Herod, Indecent Cherry, Melting Lust Emil Elise, cherry smoke tom ford, guerlain lhomme ideal extreme, portraiit of a lady FM. From more fresh I used to have aventus only, but don't want it anymore.

I tested all freshies from PdM, kind of liked greenley, but I had too much fruity perfumes and am a bit tired, maybe you can suggest something airy? Not sure about Acne by FM, i like the clean detergent smell of it, but maybe too floral.

Well, I've been sitting with Oud Maximus for a few hours and I guess I like oud. I've been sniffing my hand for hours to the point of going noseblind. I may have to pick up a couple of his attars. Anyone here have experience with attars? Any brands I should be checking out? It seems like attars under the shirt are a good way to enjoy a skin scent fragrance for the longest amount of time. I don't care for projection in the slightest, so the high longevity at the cost of no projection is kind of a plus for me.

I was once part of a team designing a collection of Attars for a very large fragrance house I am sure you have heard of before. We created some wonderful scents but unfortunately the project went nowhere. If you’re looking for the traditional Middle Eastern, and not the more complex European kind, you should concentrate on finding all natural attars using real, unadulterated oud oil (preferably southeast Asian) and using sandalwood oil as a carrier. If you don’t mind a synthetic attar, Amouage has a very interesting selection.

The EdP is my main signature frag and I wear it year-round. The Elixir smells pretty similar but a bit darker, a bit more depth, a bit more smoky, a bit more earthy, a bit more ambery. A bit less fruity and overall a bit less fresh. I prefer fresher frags overall so the EdP is my favorite but the Elixir is very nice too. The difference isn't very big. One fits better in spring, the other in fall, but both can be worn pretty much whenever. You can also see it as the EdP being the day version and the Elixir the evening/night version.

Yes but bafflingly the most distinct smell it has is β€œcough drop”, camphorous and menthol-y and pepper sharp-but-soft ocean breeze coolness, but a cough drop that dies down to become something like a dying lover’s kiss. Inky, mineralic, inoffensive but inexplicably charged, like a will o the wisp. It does also somehow smell like a wet rose or an old mossy log but what I get the most is sea breeze. It smells basically just like a wet rose on a sandy trail to me with a little extra menthol oomph, but I do think the calypsone et al might read as overly synthetic to some

Oud for greatness shares many olfactory similarities with Br540, this is because of the core structure is the same. The backbone of OfG is made up of Iso E Super, Cashmeran, Evernyl, Ambroxan and Hedione and Ethyl Maltol, same as Br540. In layman’s terms, OfG is just Baccarat rouge with some Cypriol, superambers and IFFs Oud Oliffac bolted on. It’s surprising how many popular fragrances are very similar to each other.

Do you guys try to cover different genres of frags in your rotation? For example for the cold season I like to alternate between woody spicy and gourmand. For the hot season I like to alternate between aquatic freshies and non-aquatic freshies. For moderate temperatures I like to alternate between blue and green scents.
Anyway, can you guys recommend some good aquatic frags? I got all the other genres covered but still missing an aquatic I really love. Preferably clean and crisp and watery. Not powdery or warm. No salt or algae note or something like that.

Check out Loewe Agua El and Missoni Wave.
Ague El is very crisp and watery. Starts out citrusy and fruity, in the mid and base a bit more mossy and woody. Gives it a bit of depth and a more mature edge. Overall still fresh and watery and light.
Wave starts out with a sweet mandarin note. It's creamier and sweeter than Agua El and lacks most of the green and woody aspects of it. Also very watery and fresh but overall a tad less crisp than Agua El. Also it's cheaper.
I enjoy both.
