Why stop shaving
Shaving was a part of our lives for dozens of centuries. How come all men stopped it? Could it really be all those movies and videogames? Did men really lose all discipline and self respect?
Here's a pic of a 20 year old today and 70 years ago

No it wasn't. Only a handful of the elites shaved their beards to larp as the Romans, who in turn wanted larp as Alexander the Great who was a beardlet 16 year old twink when he started his conquest and continued to be a beardlet twink until he died at the age of 32.

The clean shaving fashion started after WW2 among the masses. Before the World Wars most men grew their beards out, because they had no reason to shave, since and beards and mustaches were always seen as a sign of masculinity. But during the world wars men had to shave their facial hair off or else they couldn't wear gas masks. The trend then stuck around even after WW2 because men got used to the look, and especially because of the Hollywood actors from the 40s and 50s. Everyone wanted to look "classically handsome" like them.

Shaving has only become common among all social classes with the industrial revolution.
Not all men have stopped.
The decision (not) to shave has nothing to do with discipline and self respect.

I'm a mustache guy but this isn't really true, as basically everyone in the middle ages was clean shaven, just look of medieval manuscripts (I think it's because it looked more like "angels")

I've noticed that as well. Whenever I don't shave I attract a lot more 30+ single women and married moms. Meanwhile, women under 30 are more into the k-pop twinks and clean shaved pretty boy look.

The girls into k-pop twinks tend to be more on the alternative side. Alternative girls also tend to be broken. However, even a basic girl within the same age ranges still prefers a clean-shaven man. You donโ€™t need to look gay and effeminate, but you shouldnโ€™t look old if you want a young girl to like you.

Society doesn't reward discipline and self respect. Shaving costs Time and money and you get nothing in return. Basic Cost benefit analysis

It feels nice and looks good if you have a good jaw and clear skin. It also shows you take care of yourself and likely shower and brush your teeth. Of course the less aesthetically gifted are permitted to hide beneath keratin strands.

I had facial hair for a while because it was something different for myself and different from the norm. It even looked good, even though it made me look older. Now I shave it again because 1) I've always preferred it, to be real and 2) sleazecore aesthetics and the safe sleazy phenomenon are quite played out and look fucking stupid at this point. I might grow a beard if I ever start balding.

I believe you're referring to the beard tax instituted by a russian emperor to (basically) imitate europeans.
He thought the nobility of his country having beards was a backward tradition (from the orthodox church and such) because modern europeans nobility in the 17th-18th-probably19th century "elites shaved their beards to larp as the Romans, who in turn wanted larp as Alexander the Great who was a beardlet 16 year old twink when he started his conquest".
The actual answer is fashion changes and has for millenia everywhere at different paces and for differznt reasons.

>Muslim calling anyone gay
Meanwhile:
Abdullah [ibn Mas'ud] related: The Messenger of Allah (SAW) sent for me, so we set out until I reached such-and-such a place, and He traced a line for me and told me: Stay between the two edges of this โ€“ donโ€™t go outside of it; if you go outside of it, itโ€™s over for you. Abdullah said: And so I stayed there. Then the Messenger of Allah (SAW) went off a stoneโ€™s throw away or a little farther (or something like that). Then he [Abdullah] mentioned a group of male members [haneen, i.e. men] who looked like Zutt people. โ€˜Affan narrated (or something like what 'Affan said, Allah willing): They didn't have any clothes on, and I didn't see their genitals, and they were tall and scrawny. He [Abdullah] said: And they came and started to ride [yarkaboun] the Messenger of Allah (SAW), and the Prophet of Allah (SAW) began to recite to them. And they started to move closer and lean around me, and get in my way, and I became intensely terrified of them, so I sat down (or something like that). And when the morning light broke, they began to go away (or something like that). Then the Messenger of Allah (SAW) came back exhausted and in pain, or practically in pain, from how they had ridden him; He said: Indeed I am exhausted (or something like that). Then the Messenger of Allah (SAW) put his head in my lap (or something like that). And the men came with tall white garments on, but the Messenger of Allah (SAW) had fallen asleep. And I became more intensely terrified of them than I was the first time.

You don't need to shave everyday. Just use an electric trimmer (without the combs) every few days to trim your beard to a stubble. It's as good as shaving. You don't need a clean shave.

I don't need to. I like a 1 day stubble. That's enough of a clean look for me. Besides, there's no such thing as a "clean" shave. There will always be a grey 5 o clock shadow on your face. So it's no different from a stubble.
