/wt/ watch thread: The Watch Thread.
Japanese Watches Edition.

You know the drill.
This is an accumulation of the Internet's wealthiest and most knowledgeable watch enthusiasts. You can take advantage of that fact by asking niche and very obscure questions, you can join us by posting wristshots, coffee, grail watches and anything in-between, OR you can simply asks us for recommendations and thoughts on X watch.
Keep it civilized, this is a gentlemans hobby after all.

Hope you guys also have a fun Saturday. On my way home now, it was a long day.
On the wrist? My trusty Black Bay Ceramic, which is 41mm in diameter, 50mm LTL, 14.4mm thick; some might even call it a luxury watch fit for construction.
Oh, I failed to mention, It's also a master chronometer and the case is made from unscratchable ceramic. (2 years running, ZERO scratches).

I posted in the other thread I was considering getting a Rolex Explorer 36mm, one of the current models.

But I thought maybe a 40mm Rolex Explorer II from around 2005-2007. But I’m not that sure about the bracelet, I prefer the clasp on that model with the ample holes for micro adjustment on the model, but don’t like the hollow centre links. I’m not that sold on the newer whizz
bang movement technology on newer Swiss watches. My experience with contemporary European engineering is $$$ to fix issues arising from form over function.

I’d get an Omega Speedmaster, but it’s hot as fuck where I live and the bracelet has some serious lack of micro adjustability.

That's why you get an old Panerai with a Unitas/6487/OP1 or 2.
>but it's not high end
You either have a movemetn that can actually be serviced without replacing half the components, or you get a high end caliber of Theseus.

Alright, I will never post my watches on reddit, so i might as well post them here to get some validation by getting called a faggot and a shitter owner.

For context, i'm a wristlet and i live in Yurop, so anything over 38mm and anything too flashy was out of question.
Then i had other criterias including the slimness, the model history (incrementally refined by time, if it appeared in media or in historical events), if the design is truelly timeless (imagining myself in 30 years still wearing the watch), and being wearable for any occasion and with my clothes.
>Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical black pvd
It's my beater watch, i can wear it everywhere, i bike with it and travel with it, it's on an elastic strap, i don't feel it at all and often forget that i'm wearing it.
>Rolex Explorer 36
I thought it would be my "one and done" watch, but because of the time we live in, you can't wear a Rolex everywhere, so it's my daily winter watch that i wear with long sleeves and also my dressier watch. I never dreamed of that watch, it's just that i could afford it at the time and it's a no brainer, just perfect in every way, the bracelet is butter smooth.
>IWC pilot 36 Petit Prince
After i realized that i wouldn't wear the Explorer everywhere, i bought this one as my summer luxury watch. It's stealth enough and people don't really care. I tried different straps on it, the leather strap i didn't like, i tried a bonklip bracelet it almost fucked the watch, but the aviator rubber is just perfect for me (and the aviator shape respects the identity of the watch imo). Somehow, i like this one better than the Explorer right now.

3 watch collection is good for wearing and service rotation, i wish i was done here but i'm still looking at watches. I covered the bases but i may get something more fancy (teal IWC if it was smaller, pink watch, idk), or maybe i will get cured at some point.
If you see someone shilling IWC, you have one chance out of two that it's me.
Thoughts?

In my experience, JLC looks really underwhelming in person.
IWC gets called "boring" from renders and promo photos but JLC makes some truly lifeless dials.

JLC prices are sky high, can get decent deals used. I’ve thought about them, maybe a reverso, but I’d prefer a steel bracelet, the place I live is subtropical, so leather isn’t great for 6 months of the year.

Which is getting picking, but dropping heaps on a a watch, I’m being picky

I got this Omega Constellation watch from my grandfather. I'm not that knowledgeable about watches (or fashion for that matter) but I want to start wearing it and I had a couple questions. Is this a good choice for an everyday watch or should I only wear it around the office? I carry but I don't really want to invite trouble in my area lol. Also, should I change the strap to leather or any other material? I don't mind the more casual look of the textile strap but if there is something more tasteful I'll change to that.

It just dawned on me; Tudor is actually better than Rolex.
Tudor is a master chronometer while Rolex is "superlative". What does that mean in practise? Rolex doesn't even do third party certification on them, instead they do their own testing and deem it "better".
I'm so glad I went with my BB54, after getting it, I don't even think about Rolex. In a world where Rolex screams status, Tudor whispers taste. A Rolex is the billboard of success, but Tudor? It’s the secret handshake of those who know better. You pay less, yet get a sibling forged in the same firesβ€”Swiss precision, timeless design, and none of the "look-at-me" hysteria. A Tudor is a poet's watch; a Rolex, a salesman’s pitch. Why spend double to impress strangers when you could spend less and impress yourself?

It's not only in big cities anymore. Mid-sized cities at around 300K population are also extremely unsafe.
You guys should research the gypsy problem in Duisburg.

It's not about
>"You should just avoid dangerous neighbourhoods"
It's about not having to do that, at all. And the percentage isn't 0 even if you avoid dangerous neighbourhoods/blocks or, in this case, entire cities.
If my chances of getting robbed are 1% or 20% every time I'm going outside, then it's not safe. No need to discuss.

I wouldn't be surprised if the locomotive also gets one of those very nice clasps, but I also don't think it will happen because it wouldn't fit the design. Every new gs release has that though. I'd wait for next years locomotive model but I wouldn't hold my breath.

#1: Tissot
#2: Christpher Ward
#3: Sinn
#4: Moser

No matter what you have, these lukewarm soggy losers will insist their boat anchors are superior, for reasons you couldn't comprehend.

Well actually, let them explain, you see - the founder of Moser is a man named Mort Moser, and in 1534 he invented the crank wobble flippy flicker, an innovated new way for main spring power transfer without re-calibrating the tully toggle. Sadly, Mort died from AIDS before he saw any success with his patent - but 1000 years later, some Jewish investors bought (stole) the idea to make the Moser "Cruiser", a $15K 45mm 3 hand watch. Despite its overall aesthetics resembling a DHgate build-your-own-watch kit, the Moser "Cruiser" has gone on to become a major hit amongst pedophiles and image board lurkers - with its high MSRP and steep discounts, it makes for a great gas-light, implying wealth and taste above the lowly "mall" watches prefered by 90% of the world population. Truly unique and outstanding taste!
