ralph lauren make good shit. In the UK you can find a lot of their stuff steeply discounted in outlet stores and retailers (like TK max). No idea what it's like across the pond.

My God, don't they know? This stuff is simulacra of simulacra of simulacra. A dilute tincture of Ralph Lauren, who had himself diluted the glory days of Brooks Brothers, who themselves had stepped on the product of Jermyn Street and Savile Row, flavoring their ready-to-wear with liberal lashings of polo knit and regimental stripes. But Tommy surely is the null point, the black hole. There must be some Tommy Hilfiger event horizon, beyond which it is impossible to be more derivative, more removed from the source, more devoid of soul.

Well since the upper class really likes to LARP as working class now it would be work pants from Filson, Carharrt, or Dickie’s.

You can buy decent chinos from Amazon anon. Not even kidding, the Amazon Essentials brand ones are nicer than the normie slop from GAP and Old Navy. A real mature retro chino adult men like your dad (or math teacher) would wear.

Just don't buy super cheap shit like Wal-Mart's George brand because the crotch will blow out the third or fourth time you wear them. Also don't buy on Temu or Shein because the item you see is never what you get except for the rare honest seller.

Plenty of decent linen slacks online. Fashion Nova sells some for really cheap, be warned though they're not pre-washed. Other than that they're solid for the money.

If you can, thrift these things and look for to find some decent brands like Arnold Palmer, Dockers, and Dickies (look for vintage). Vintage CK and Guy Laroche are options too.

Ralph Lauren is lower middle class quality at upper middle class prices. Same with Hugo Boss. Unironically my Calvin Klein stuff is better quality than my Hugo Boss. Guy Laroche is also solid for cheap if you can get vintage or clearance goods.

heres a real hack- see how chinos fit at the thrift store, take a picture of the tag, then go on ebay and find the same ones brand new for whatever ~$20 pricing you can find on ebay.
no clue who is selling this shit on ebay but every major brand gets resold for pennies on there. mostly big labels that are overpriced new, like ck, kenneth cole, j crew, etc. but its all on ebay. ive been destroying the same pair of kenneth cole jeans at work after buying a bunch of pairs on ebay, just because they fit nice and my work destroys pants. works great for shirts as well

There's no clothing that only rich people wear outside of bespoke jewelry/watches.
People who wear saville row tend to be rich though. I can't imagine there's many people who earn under 100k who wear it

Try to move beyond the illusion of class, you'll be better for it.
