I am currently in the process of growing my hair out, but every time I have tried this in the past it's been a failure because my hair is so coarse and feathery and frizzy. But I'm trying.

You see, I love long hair, and I am lucky enough to be in my 30s and have zero receding hairline or thinning hair, so this is my last chance. it's not going too well because of how wild my hair gets but I'm trying

What is the "awkward phase" so many people bring up? What does it generally look like? Does it just start at medium-long hair that's a bit past the tops of the ears and growing a bit longer at the back?

it's medium long hair that isn't undercut at all and therefor not clean around the ears and sides, because the goal is to get it long and flowing. so it gets fuckin' weird for several weeks or even months. for me it's when my hair reaches short-medium (usually when I give up) because my hair is really coarse and doesn't fall with gravity, it look like a goddamn scarecrow. other people just get weird anton chigurh hair for awhile
