Question: do alcohol calories count?
Anonymous No.18545221 >>18545273
>>18545213
yes. after a night of drinking, the dehydration makes you lose more weight the night before, but it depends on how much you're drinking, and if you can control yourself even while drunk from eating. I binge eat when I drink.
Anonymous No.18545248 >>18545314
Today, I really wanted to eat a slice of pizza that I know is 330 calories for dinner. I made an error in my counting and ended up with 308 calories left for the day instead of 333 like I thought. I was irate. I screamed and clutched my head.
I considered doing exercise to make up for the extra calories, but then I had the epiphany that doing more exercise for the express purpose of eating more food would have undoubtedly been considered gluttony, which would have set a bad precedent for myself if entertained. A Christian shouldn't be ruled by a desire for food.

I could just as easily eat it tomorrow, I suppose, but perhaps I'll take this mistake of mine as a sign and not have the pizza at all. People like me love seeing providence where others see coincidence.

I got pretty whasted last night and I was so good, didn't have pasta or pizza or anything. I just cooked up a couple juicy third pound burgers medium rare an just ate them on the plate.

I haven't had hardly any carbs in like 6+ weeks. I've had a couple sandwiches in the last month or two, and some mashed potato once, but absolutely no rice, pasta, noodles, sweets/pastries, chips. etc.

I actually had a realization this morning that it's not "exercising to eat," but more "eating to exercise." If you eat, say, an extra slice of pizza, it's like all the wheat that went into the crust, the tomatoes grown by people all over the world, the cows that've given their milk for the cheese are all cheering you on, telling you to use the calories they've given up for you for a good end.
When I reframe my thinking in that way, it's like I have a cheerleading squad of dozens of species all telling me to run an extra thirty minutes today, so that I can run even further tomorrow.

not doing keto really, just realised I was eating like 5 serves a pasta a day and had love handles. I drink a lot of calories on the weekend and with work being so busy the last year I haven't been getting as much exercise as usual so yeah, just cutting out all the really calorie dense shit that doesn't offer much nutrition. I'm eating plenty of meat, fish, fruit, veg and got my adonis belt back.

What a beautiful perspective. This website never ceases to amaze me. I think the intent has everything to do with it. In my case, I was seriously craving pizza, so I decided that even reframing the thought process like that would still be an act of gluttony. I think this is because denial is one of the first approaches I use in most situations.
Nevertheless, food is a gift, and if I find myself in a situation where I end up eating extra calories for any reason, I think I'll think about what you said. Using what we are given is important, and using it towards a positive end is proper to me.

hi idk anything about this thread but
I've been easily restricting down to 600 calories a day without much issue
I've been eating one meal a day and doing extended fasts for years and been fine
but I'm worried recently because it's been harder and harder to convince myself to eat a reasonable amount or finish my food and I don't know if it's a problem or not
500 to 700 calories is plenty to make me full for the next 24 hours and anything else feels excessive and usually makes me tired
it's only been a couple weeks of going from an average of 1200 a day to an average of around the low 600s
I've got _plenty_ of body fat still so I should be fine, right?
how do I stop the urge to go lower? am I fucked?
I'm also worried about my brain desu

I hate this type of thinking. Why are you telling us about your failures? By saying that you are going to do something you admit that you haven't achieved your goal(s). It's depressing. This isn't a worthwhile topic for discussion and you should keep it to yourself. Also it makes you focus more on the end goal instead of what you can do to achieve it. In terms of diet, I avoid junk food like the plague, and restrict myself to eating only fruits, vegetables, lean meat, fish, rice cakes, nuts, seeds, and the occasional whole wheat bread roll (obviously not all on one day). Also, I barely ever have dinner. On top of that, I run in place for about an hour a day. I don't bother with counting calories or weighing myself, as I am the type to grow ridiculously neurotic when I do so.
The only thing that has changed in the past few days is that I've been eating less. Prior to that, I had been eating at - presumably, given that I was neither getting thinner nor fatter - maintenance for a couple of weeks. Even if it does make me feel guilty at times, I guess I sort of do have an excuse for doing so, as I only eat at maintenance when it is to regain my period. Admittedly, I am prioritizing aesthetics over health, but even so, I am still worried about causing damage to my hormones by not having my period (not too long ago, I didn't have it for months, and trying to regain it was a major pain, for it meant having to eat more).
...this turned into a bit of a tangent towards the end, but I hope my post will prove helpful to some. Ultimately, it all pretty much comes down to eating less and moving more.

Not sure how dedicated you'll be over the next year, given you somehow failed to ditch the excess weight for almost 10 years.
You should probably start with a 500 cal deficit and slowly progress from there towards your 700cals a day over 2-3 months.
Stick to slow walks before you hit 85kg.

In 6 months I looked skinny fat like I did 2 years before that. I am now 72kg with a good amount of definition and I feel great (I still want to lose fat to mog more). I did it with mostly walking and just reverting to a lifestyle of not just eating and being sad drinking soda and alcohol but I do 5ks sometimes now but ive been sick. I'm about 13.5 bf% at the moment and I think my facial structure is starting to look gaunt old and sickly as a result. When my bf is 1-2% higher it seems to me to look a bit chubbier and less-defined, and I have a bit of under-chin fat unfortunately, but I also suspect it looks fuller, healthier, and younger overall.

That's not something for any of us to decide. You yourself are the reason that you are skinny fat now, so you are also the only one who can fix this situation.
To improve your figure and then maintain it, all you truly need is willpower. Think thoroughly about your priorities. Do you wish to keep eating shitty food and not exercising, or do you genuinely want to look good? You have to pick one of these two options. Whenever you feel like giving in to your cravings or your laziness, remember your goals. If that is not enough, then you won't ever make it.
Stop relying on others, as though they could help you. All you're really doing is trying to avoid having to make decisions for yourself.

I'm not trans, but I'd say it depends on how long you've been on HRT. As far as I know, the reason why TDEE calculators have that distinction is because a man and a woman of the same height and weight generally have different body fat percentages, since higher testosterone rates make it easier to build muscle mass and cause less of a dependency on body fat (women's essential body fat percentage is quite a bit higher than that of men). If your hormonal levels are at a point where they are comparable to that of a cis woman, then I'd advise you to tick the "female" box. Otherwise, go for the other one.

I'm in the process of integrating regular exercise into my weight loss regimen, and I’m looking to set some clear baseline rules to help maintain consistency. Right now, my focus is entirely on aerobic activity.
What is the minimum amount of aerobic exercise one should aim for on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis? Even something as basic as walking counts. My goal is to ensure that I do something every single day, even on days when I feel off or unmotivated. I know a 30-minute walk might seem small, but over time it adds up and can make a real difference. Small lifestyle choices, like taking the stairs instead of the elevator, also contribute more than people often realize.
The good news is that I’ve just signed up for a gym membership, which gives me access to equipment like seated bikes, stationary bikes, and treadmills. I’m looking for advice on how to structure my workouts using this equipment, focusing strictly on cardio. I’m not interested in strength training right now.
Let’s say I’m planning to commit about four hours per week to cardio. Would that be considered a minimal amount, a healthy average, or approaching the upper end of effort? I want to better understand what counts as too little, what qualifies as a sustainable routine, and what starts to push the body toward its limits.
Any tips or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Anything I want to and it looks good, that’s the point. Clothes drape better on a tall skinny body with the right proportions. Both baggy and skinny stuff looks better, and you also get more leeway when it comes to clothes fitting. Can wear stuff a bit too large or small and it’s fine

Anyone else here living with a fat family? I love them to bits, but how can someone be this ignorant of the basics of dieting, at this point it's no longer a case of lack of knowledge, it's wilful ignorance and they pay for it.

It's a lack of self-control.
Even if they tried to diet they won't be able to abstain from eating food because it takes up a significant part of their day and they won't know what to do with themselves otherwise.

Imagine if you were suddenly cursed with the inability to sleep, you magically don't need it anymore, but now you have 8 hours of solitude a day that nobody else is awake, just you.
I'm sure you'd find it hard to deal with.

I no longer live with them but my parents were overweight. It's not until now i'm in my thirties that I have realised the amount of unintended issues they have given me around food. I think children pick up from their parents their relationship with food as they are who buy for and feed you. Looking back, excessive portion sizes far too much for a child, encouraged to always empty plate and leave no food, always dessert after dinner no matter how much we had just ate, snacking and piecing between meals. I love my parents dearly and typing this out is making me feel guilt. But I can't escape from the fact that I feel they dealt me a bad hand when it comes to food and as a result I have always struggled and have zero intuitive eating ability.

Find something to distract yourself with. It needs to be something that you are genuinely passionate about. Of course, if there are multiple things you want to dedicate yourself to, then that is all the better, assuming that doing so is within your capabilities. That way, you not only lose weight, but also improve your abilities and skills.

fair enough but saying you gain 5kg of water weight on the scale is crazy. From two slices of pizza. I know people focus on the scale a lot on this thread but try to just keep healthy. Muscle isn't fat, your skin should feel nice and supple, hydrated. your lips should not be chapped. Stuff like that. listen to your body
