any repro of the us navy denim utility pants because they look good, they're more functional than 5 pocket jeans, they don't fit quite as close to the body as 5 pockets tend to, and they tend to be made in lightweight 2x1 twill denims. if i had to wear one pair of jeans year round i would always pick something around 10oz and then wear wool layers underneath when it gets cold.

uhh there's a ton of versions of them over the years. sellers rarely ever really list them by the exact model name. i would just search decade or war you're looking for + usn or us navy or army or conservation corps or ccc + denim / dungaree / jeans / pants / trousers / utility trousers. or learn all the companies that made them and search that way. seafarer's the most common one i think.

I'm not huge by any means but it feels impossible to find comfortable jeans. I have a 30" waist which is pretty small, a 40" hip which again isn't that big, and just under 26" thighs at the widest which is where the issues are, makes it worse if I don't have a fairly high rise too. I suppose I could size up too but I feel that it always throws the proportions off slightly and makes them look worse.

Actually pretty comfy. Crunches up on the inside of the elbow but nothing insane and should be nothing with a long sleeve shirt so it's not directly on the skin. With buttons zipped the jacket rides up off the shoulders but unzipped it rests nicely. Arms are just exactly long enough that I cuff them which for selvedge flexing for a audience of nobody but still means I've got four layers of 33oz fabric to rest my arms on during work. Buttoning it up isn't hard since I've got a pair of pliers to drag them through the hole and honestly doing more than two is sort of pointless since the jacket wraps around me anyway.

Depends on the rise of your pants. The really old school high rise has them go almost to the belly button but modern fits have them rest on the hips with the entire belly exposed. Personally I aim for something that I can rest on the hip bones with just a slight belt tightening.

The more forward hip bending you're doing the more the rise matters since the back of the pants will pulled down when you bend forward, potentially revealing ass crack. Also as you point out the lower it is the more likely you are to crush your balls. Gotta balance personal preference, available fits and use cases.

I own a lot of nice jap selvedge. Some of my jeans include Iron Heart, Samurai, Oni, Real McCoys, Freewheelers, Fullcount, and Sugarcane. Mostly 40s-50s repro cuts with a large variation of denim weights. Probably about 12 pairs total. Although all of these jeans are great and I have no significant complaints or desire to get rid of any of them, I can honestly say that the one pair I gravitate toward more than anything is the Fullcount 0105. Not to say that I don’t enjoy putting on a pair of 21 oz every so often, but the level of comfort, mobility, and softness that the Fullcounts have is pretty much unrivaled. No gimmicks and super basic looking, but they’re just fucking nice and feel amazing. They unexpectedly grew on me because for the longest time I was super into the heavy weight shit with normal straight cuts, so wearing a 13-14 oz pair with a more wide/loose cut seemed like something I wouldn’t really like as much. Gave it a shot and over time I just ended up not wanting to take them off. Putting on a pair of 21 oz now just doesn’t hit the same. If you are wanting to just have one nice pair of jap selvedge for casual outfits, Fullcount is probably the best and I couldn’t recommend anything more. Some people get really uptight about their jeans looking like they’re tailored and fitted perfectly, but the level of comfort and functionality you get from these things trumps everything else and you stop giving a shit about finding a nice pair of jeans that fits your ass like the 13MWZ

The 13mwz are a slim/straight cut because tgey were designed for rodeos. However, they're far from being slim as in the skinny millennial tapered cuts.

Soso has a bunch above 20oz. The 25oz is probably the heaviest type II on the market as whole. Unsandfordised jackets close to it would get heavier with the first wash but probably not over 25oz.

The 33oz only came in type III and chore coat when I ordered mine IIRC but their website was really buggy at the time and asked for the same options multiple times with options being removed and added as it was fixed. If you can get that in type II it'd be the heaviest by far.

The fullcount 0105 is not supposed to fit like the 13mwz lol. They are intentionally designed to be slouchy/relaxed for the sole purpose of comfort. If you want a top block that fits like the 13mwz, then buy the 13mwz. This is not complicated at all. I own both. They are fundamentally different jeans. I wear the 13mwz for work. They are completely functional, but I don't want to wear a pair of jeans every single day that hugs my ass. This is why I prefer wearing the 0105 casually on my free time, its way more comfortable and I'm not constantly dealing with the sensation of having the top block painted onto my ass and taint. At some point, some of you are going to have to realize that a good outfit involving jeans does not 100% of the time require a "perfectly fitting" top block. Many great outfits have the relaxed/casual silhouette, which is what a lot of vintage 501s (the 0105) achieve
