So I’ve dressed kinda preppy with pocket tees and chino shorts or blank tees with jeans for most of my life and now that I’m older I want to lean into this style a little bit more but I’m having a hard time actually fitting it into my lifestyle. I work from home so I do house work or a workout kind of sporadically and even going out it doesn’t really work because nobody around me dresses this way. I’ve noticed that women also find it very unappealing. I get less attention when I wear a polo shirt or OCBD than when I wear a basic black tee with jeans and boots. What am I doing wrong and how have you fit this style into your life?
Anonymous No.18550608 >>18550631

You tuck you OCBD and wear it in relaxed fit. Same goes for chinos. Relaxed fit will make you look more, well, relaxed and comfortable, rather than like an office worker in modern slim fit clothes. And don't sag your pants. Wear them at your proper waist. And try to wear more colors and patterns.

I’ll wear whatever works for going out. It’s rather than this style just doesn’t seem to fit my lifestyle otherwise then. Like I said, I work from home. So 6 am to 6 pm I’m at home and at random times busting out a workout in the garage, or plowing the driveway, or raking leaves, or hauling away tree branches. I really like this style but it doesn’t seem to fit my lifestyle.

it sorta does. shuttle looms have a higher ceiling for quality and require less cost/changes in tooling to tweak and make custom fabrics on it. you can make better denim on one. that being said a lot of shuttle looms are used to mass produce middle-tier stuff that you could make on a projectile loom just fine.
projectile looms get a bad rap because 99% of them are set up to mass produce slop as cheap as possible. but that's just profit incentive dictating that, not the technology itself.
his jeans look just as nice as any other sanforized selvedge jeans i've seen.

because you can't really balance properly on a skateboard while wearing boots like that, which could explain why he's carrying it, but he'll not be using the actual board any time soon because of the raised heel on the boot, you would be more likely to trip and fall off of your board or get caught on the side of it trying to manipulate your foot to kick.

it just doesn't make a lot of sense to even have one with you while wearing boots like that.

I only own Jamieson's but I've read a bit and looked around at the others. Jamieson's has a higher and tighter neckline, I find that it's less sloppy than most of the other typical brands. I also like that Jamieson's are usually the shortest in length, which suits me, since shetlands are usually excessively long anyway. Jamieson's are definitely crunchier and denser, more substantial, slightly more structured because of the side seam. They seem more traditional for sure. The others seem like they drape more, they look more loosely knitted. I think Harley has a better selection of colours and styles which seem to be permanently available though.

There are people into varying degrees of traditional men's fashion in this general. Don't let my opinion deter you from staying here and learning about how you would like to dress. You sound like you're into the preppy side of things. I'm of the belief that derbies, loafers, and boots are a better option than sneakers 99% of the time. The heart has its own compass and it points differently for each of us, but we can all coexist in this thread fren. Just as long as your shirt has a collar.

Classism works just fine on its own, but it can also USE racism as a tool of control. You can assign rank to token individuals from races that are traditionally frowned upon by the lower classes, thus creating an illusion of advancement and jealousy, inciting further racism from the paupers against the even more oppressed minorities so they war with each other while you rob them all. Just a funny little joke on the racists and the poor. Blind virulent racism is a fundamental weakness of the easily manipulated mind of the servant castes.

because back in the day it was whites going to these schools, and these whites were the children of other whites who were wealthy and well off. the gi bill after WWII changed that a lot but it was still mostly whites
fast forward now and 50% of any ivy league (or ivy adjacent like MIT, chicago, duke, stanford, etc.) are asians, the rest are blacks, hispanics, jeets, and then the final part are whites.
and of those students, they're zoomers, who have been brought up in a post-uniform, post-formal world and the thought of dressing up in anything but t-shirts and exercise clothing is considered "dressing up"

it's just zoomers having no sense of formality or sense of dressing nice combined with the fact the average student is not white, and this is a VERY white style

I've just received this surplus Swiss wool greatcoat- it's the WW2 design but I'm guessing this one was made in the 60s or 70s. This thing must weigh 8 pounds and it is seriously comfy.
I'm never going to wear it in public, but maybe on a winter camping trip. I wish these big coats hadn't gone out of style. I guess we can blame central heating for that.

Speaking of, does anyone know how to get the wrinkles out of this thing? I've just ironed it on medium heat with a spritz of water and an ironing cloth but it didn't do very much.

Femanon here. I am trying to get into fashion so I hope I’m posting in the right thread. I have a few questions about this style of clothing.
Will people think I’m larping if I dress like this? If yes, what would be a similar style but more acceptable?
Is it possible to find clothes that are made with quality fabric that emulate this style nowadays at a fair price? (I prefer vintage but I don’t know if it’s really possible to find authentic 1950s clothes)
I am very ugly, will it suit me or will it make me look like a grandma? (I am in my 20s)
Thank you to any of you who takes the time to reply.

90% of the books are clearly part of a set bought all at once, indicating a lack of attention towards them.
And the rest are entirely books about classic menswear, which is obviously his entire interest.
I like suits, but it shouldn't be the center of your world.
That bookshelf should be filled with classic books that he is actually reading, and his day should be filled with reading those books.
