Drakkar is solid, even if the performance is shit. It’s funny, despite all the memes, to me it mostly smells like a sort of shaving-cream and pine needles vibe, very inoffensive, although it’d fit the best in autumn.

I finally pulled the trigger on a bunch of samples. Luckyscent's Essential 13 masculine sample pack was out of stock but I used it as a reference and grabbed the majority of what was in the pack. The rest are scents I saw mentioned here or elsewhere.

The performance is too poor for me to keep using it though. The current formulation lasts 90 minutes, maybe 2 hours if you're really lucky and that's pushing it.

One Man Show Emerald Edition is another shaving cream kind of smell, mixed with like Irish Spring soap. About 8 hours on my skin before becoming just a skin scent. Costs about what Drakkar Noir does.

So I have been a big fan of Creed Aventus for years because its not overpowering but feels like it trys to seduce people.
I have been complimented on it multiple times, its a proven winner, and if I go to work, I would pick Creed Aventus.
However, I love ozonic scents and have samples of Etat Libre d'Orange - Hermann A Mes Cotes Me Paraissait Une Ombre. I just dont feel brave enough to wear it out, because I dont want to intreigue people when I wear it, I just want people to think I smell nice. Etat Libre d'Orange - Exit the king is also nice, but once again, do I stop wearing what I know people like to wear something which may not hit the same way?

I like it. Either this or L'Eau Bleue would be great for fall.

I actually haven't tried many of the old "powerhouses" other than Kouros and Polo, both of which I wear regularly. I really want to give Antaeus and Aramis a try but I haven't been able to find them anywhere where I can test them and, at this point, I'm not interested in blind buying stuff (Especially anything with the chanel tax).
I first tried Kouros as a bit of a meme but I loved it, it felt to me like the lighthearted, relaxed, summery alternative to Rien II (which is the only fragrance I had to "learn" to enjoy). Also, it has been very well received by others.

Ganymede smells like: tar, leather, and suede mostly. It smells just like a shoe store at the mall to me. I also get a slightly calone-like burning plastic accord and the hint of gasoline in the drydown. It’s weird that they were aiming for otherworldly with the name of Jupiter’s moon, but it’s actually one of the most worldly/industrial fragrances I’ve smelled.

Oh it's bad. As it dries down it loses that medicinal shower gel kind of smell and becomes a generic aquatic smell but also kind of dirty? Skin scent after an hour.

It honestly smells like something you'd pay $8-10, not $80 ($112 CAD). I have a bottle of something called Tahari Aquawave I bought for $16 CAD that has a similar dry down. Drakkar Bleu does project pretty strongly at first, the small spray from the tester was more noticeable than the 6 sprays of One Man Show I put on 2 hours prior.

Wait until it's at discounters if you want to give it a shot, but honestly not even worth it. The only thing separating it from other generic blue scents is that medicinal opening, but that fades at the 1 hour mark. It's basically a body spray being sold as an eau de parfum as far as performance.

I can't even say I'd be happy paying $25-$30 for Drakkar Blue. Drakkar Intense performs way better.

I'd actually recommend buying Cuba Prestige Black instead. At least that one is cheap enough that the mediocre performance is acceptable. It's definitely minty as well but a little less medicinal, dry downs are a little different too. I'd call the Cuba kind of grassy, like moss and hay, Drakkar Bleu is like aquatic but kind of reminds me of Pears soap too.

This is my favorite category of perfumes. Sometimes I just need a brief whiff of something amazing without committing a whole day. You can also tell the perfumer made the best scent because they weren't under the constraints of longevity and consumer demands for all day scents. When they can focus on making the absolute best traditional colognes with access to natural ingredients and no other restrictions it really shows.
