The fandom's toxic behavior, entitlement, and obsession with shipping have driven away new fans and tarnished the franchise's reputation. The constant bickering, pedantry, and infighting have made Sonic a joke, a symbol of cringe and desperation.
The series' creators, once visionaries, are now held hostage by a fandom that prioritizes petty squabbles over innovation. Sonic's legacy is a shadow of its former self, a cautionary tale of how a beloved franchise can be ruined by its own fans.
I want to reclaim Sonic's legacy, the original games, the passion, and the creativity that made Sonic a legend, leave the toxicity and obsession behind and rediscover the magic that once was.

The nostalgia for the old days when you could simply walk to your locale app-store and trade in your Atari apps and Sega System apps for used DOS-ROMs.

I paid $279 AUD for this collection of Sega System apps. Did I just get scammed? He seemed like a really nice guy.

This is me as a young lad receiving my Sega System for Christmas (note the distinct lack of light phaser.) From then on, I knew that consequences would never be the same. On that joyous occasion when I first witnessed the Sega System UEFI booting into its built-in scotformer Alex The Kid, I became a lifelong Sega fan… that is, until the Shiturn was released. I was immensely disillusioned and unimpressed with Sega’s rough transition to 3D, and so with a heavy heart, and after a mere 3 days of owning my Shiturn, I was forced to return it to the app-store rom whence it came and since they had very few Atari apps I had to substitute it with a PC DOS-ROM of the game Croc, which provided a far more satisfying experience with its varied assortment of soulfully kinographic 3D mayors. Then, years later, I decided to hop back on the Sega train when Bernie Stolar announced a revolutionary new 3D scotformer for the Dreamcast. At the time it was only known by its codename, “Project Floigan”… but little did we know that this unassuming title would not only end up selling a grand total of 6 million copies, but would also spell out the end of Nintendo as we know it… and the rest, as they say, is history.

It was no different from the well established Sega System (they literally copied the exact games) and it had such a dumb sounding name. Turbo indeed.

revolvers. Nintendo's is probably the most famous, but it made very loud click sounds. Sega's revolver was much quieter, though it had a tendency to break after a while. No one seems to care about the 16 bit versions.
Fun fact, the 1-button on the Sega system pad was the same as the revolver trigger.

You're all old enough now, so I will tell you this: There is no such thing as the "Sega Master System".
There was the "Sega System", and later on the "Sega Master System II" but never the Sega Master System.

I have such fond memories of Toys R Us. I know, I know, it was way overpriced, but for selection it was the best app store around. They had literally EVERYTHING. They even sold the ultra-rare SEGA System Sports Paddle which was required for Great Ice Hockey. Man, that game was great.

We all know that the Sega Video Game System is better than the Nintendo Entertainment System.
This is because the Sega System was the only system which was able to support the portation of the famous King's Quest DOS-ROM.

Bernie Stolar invented the Sega System in 1981, 5 years before it was released in North America.
The reason for the delay was his rival, Bill Gates (as well as Atari) threatened Bernie with legal action since the Sega System would encroach on the existing market for DOS-ROMs and Atari apps.
They were forced to relinquish their litigations thanks to anti-anti-competition laws.

This was the first computer game I ever played. I was secretly crushed to find out decades later that it wasn't even supposed to be a game, but rather a teaching tool or demo for the Apple ][ keyboard usage.
I even remember seeing this featured on Sesame Street's "Super Computer" series.

To me, it will always be a game, and I would love to play this "game" again.

I've been searching for a DOS ROM conversion I can use on Windows 98, but no luck so far :(
Nor can I find an equivalent app for the SEGA System™. (Sad face)
