You only get that physique from bodybuilding. Bodybuilding is actually a very modern invention.

leanness wasn't invented in the last 100 years and you can just extrapolate what someone would look like with the same muscles they already have but bigger. also the back of one of those heracles statues has a bunch of muscles that don't exist.

that man isnt lean, they have obvious hypotrophy from bodybuilding that can only be explained with modern bodybuilding and equipment
You can literally tell of you know what you are looking at what exercises hes doing
For example they arent doing bench because the chest is underdeveloped

Retard, If you actually knew anything about bodybuilding it started in basically the late 19th century and 20th century..
And a lot of the equipment was invented around that time and after, like squat racks and bench
Before the squat rack, weightlifters used to lift a barbell off the ground one side at a time and squat it with their feet together.

you don't need a squat rack to put a barbell on your back.
didn't you ever see the video of the guy picking it up from the ground?
he puts the barbell vertically, then he squats down and pulls the barbell on his shoulders, and then he squats up.
my guess is it's hard to do for us because we never practice it. if we did do it since the beginning, we would all be able to do it.

You need a squat rack to do repeat squats for sets.
As said earlier the technique for putting a barbell on the back was an elaborate one side at a time thing which is bad for the back and you wouldnt be able to lift any heavy weight thatd induce hypetrophy.
The greeks didnt have 100kg+ barbells you tard.
Thats assuming they were even aware of squats for quad growth in the first place.

You assume too much.

its the other way round people wanted to look like greek statues and so they did same for women modern day PH thots have bodies that peolpe just 20 years ago though were absolutely impossible but with drugs and surgery there is no limit.
also greeks studied anatomy and just made each muscle protrude more.

Nta but people have thought i lifted weights for years just because i do construction. If you think you need a very particular piece of equipment and can only gain muscle through very partucular rep ranges you might be retarded.

Nah you arent getting it. Its impossible to have a hypertrophied physique like this while lacking the technique and equipment without roids.
They didnt have roids.
Like i said there is no way they were hefting over 100kg barbells on their backs.

Because i know a bit about history, we can look first to India and look at the Gada technique for building muscle,
The muslim middle easterners were said to also train in underground gyms when they were persecuted by the Mongols, they used ampule shaped weights like the Gada.
We can assume going westward the Greeks also had gymnasiums and their own secret techniques to bodybuild that have been lost to time
Another interesting thing is the Greeks, like Spartans had a society where some members could devote their entire life to physical exercise.
This is a thing that only very recently became available to many people.

Just pick up a heavy object, somewhere around 50kg, hold it in your arms Zercher, hold it like a suitcase W/E you want and walk up a steep mountain in Greece. (plenty)

That's like 200reps of lunges minimum. 100 reps each leg, now do this in sets.

Now tell me that this will not build big legs. This will build bigger legs than Olympic sprinters have nowadays.

Its easy as that. Just imagine doing barbell curls with 135 lbs for 100 reps, any rock will suffice.

i think youre underestimating the intense autism of the ancient world. imagine you woke up in the morning and had literally NOTHING to do all day. not a hint of technology, you just ate and slept and in greece you had your slaves do everything difficult. these freaks were just pondering all day how to lift weights and get strong. no doubt their training methods were different than ours but you still see people today getting impressive physiques by dedicating themselves to EG kettlebells, sandbags, etc. etc.

you do not require a squat rack to become muscular. why do you think greeks were obsessed with the idea of "broad shoulders" (if you're a history knower you should know what im referring to rn), its because they just hefted heavy shit on their backs and moved around. thats basically all you need.

This is a culture and time period where being strong and fighting for your life was necessary for the people/country.

they didn't have electronics and only had engines as curiosities, they almost despised the idea of using their intellect to do practical things. even anatomy via dissection was taboo untill 18th century scots started doing it, they wouldn't have been able to make comparable statues unless they had people around that muscular.
Everything's done by hand, either you or slaves do it. And you had to exercise if you wanted to call yourself a virtuous man, enough exercise and you can work out through trial and error how to get like that.
