My gym has at least two of almost everything, but only one leg extension machine. Some sad sack of a human is always sitting on it like it's a living room armchair for 40 minutes between "sets." Is there a free weight exercise I can do which is comparable?

My gym also has only one of those.

I just ask how many sets they've got left, more than 1 I'll just say "I'll do one sets while you rest", don't ask, 99% of people are pussy and won't say anything.

Mine has two but legit the same thing always happens. dyels/fatties/women just lounging on the thing, doing their 3-5 sets of babyweight not straining themselves at all. I don't blame you for not wanting to talk to them either, I usually just stand there waiting

Two of these machines at my gym but they're usually free, the bicep curl machine however always has some faggot sat on his phone for ages

mine has 1 leg curl, 1 leg extension
and 1 that can do both.
about 2 slightly different machines for every muscle.
1 smith, 2 power racks,4 different benches, dbs from 2 - 80kg.
Big cable combo tower with 4 stacks on each side.
small but good gym imo.

Also dont be a pussy and just ask to jump in.

Leg extensions destroy your knees and work the quads which are already worked enough in squats. Leg curls are goated though they work the hammies which are barely worked at all.
You see roiders like Sam Sulek doing extensions because he's minmaxing that extra few % of quad gains since squats overload the spinal erectors too much when you're doing them at 3pl8+ for reps. But as a natty leg extensions are a meme
