Its a real personal journey and conquering lust is one of the toughest things a man can do, so don't expect it to happen overnight. I've done years of no pmo, fallen back into it, fought back to years no pmo, gotten a gf, had sex with no porn, then sex with porn, fell back into pmo, then back to a streak now running on a year.
Best I can tell you is to stay busy, keep fighting, and pay attention to the feelings you discover along the way as thats where the enlightenment is, stuff like "why do I get horny when im bored" or "why does pmo increase my anxiety"
Another perspective that helped me is understanding its just like drugs/junk food, ie garbage in, garbage out and dose makes the poison, and the best dose of drugs is zero, and also like drugs, what you never do once, you'll never do twice. The more you improve your mental diet, the healthier your mental state becomes
