It's fucking gay. I'm an absolute barefoot enjoyer but grounding is the definition of pseudoscience, which is bad not because it's pseudo but because it's science. I do not need hippies severely misunderstanding electrical charges to observe the self-evident physical and spiritual benefits of being barefoot and feeling grass between my toes. Well-being is internal. Science can give us useful pointers, but its scope is inherently limited. Much of what exists does so outside of its boundries, especially that which concerns the human soul. Science can not be our only master, it's far from the only thing with epistemic worth. You can not externalize well-being, surgically remove and quantify it to put it in a study. If I notice obvious improvements from some practice, I am completely unbound to consider what the science says on it. If it agrees with me, good, another piece of evidence, but if it doesn't, it does not matter. Read Hans Surén.

It's very real. Being cut off from the earth & nature at large is one of the many reasons people are so lost & fucked up in the "modern world." I always get stressed & depressed when I ignore nature, and feel a lot better when I go spend a few hours in the woods barefoot.

A lot, how you ground and what techniques you use have a lot to do with what kind of signals and signal integrity requirements you're working with

As a rule of thumb, star point ground to an uninterrupted ground plane is best while keeping critical signal traces like clock signals or controller uninterrupted on the ground plane, but this of course depends on the frequencies you're exposing your system to

it's not rocket science - we walk in plastic clothing, in insulating shoes on insulated ground, ofc we loose electric charges

studies found that people that do electric grounding (for example touching the heating pipe (which is electrically grounded, has a huge capacity and is a great conductor)) are significantly better at healing and has less systemic inflammation on average

obv the efficiency of barefooting may vary greatly depending on soil type, hydration levels, etc. but the concept in itself is easy to comprehend and quite straightforward

pic related is not really a good answer because the chlorine in water is going through reduction (steals electrons) so eventhough water goes through electrically grounded systems and (by having electrolytes) is a fairly good conductor, regular (prepared) tap or swimming water is not good for this use

the question is how much does this actually matter? also all the studies are very small scale and associated with grounding products and companies, there's very little independent, hard evidence behind this

it was just 1 study with only 20 subjects. it also didn't use randomized and placebo-controlled methods. the findings are interesting for sure, but you're overselling it

Stupid gimmicky fad #999 for lazy people who want shortcuts. It's the same shit as any snake oil or other fad, people want a quick, easy and effortless silver bullet that will solve all their problems when the boring truth is that becoming (and staying) healthy is a lot of work and that work needs to be spread out over many aspects of your life, like diet, exercise, sleep, mindset, socializing and so on.

That thing is not connected to the fround. It's connected to a positive charge charge. It's just so if a negative charge goes to a surface of an applience, the wire connected to the surface would take it away, instead of going through the person touching the applience. That's all.

"grounding" is retarded
I do, however, spend plenty of time barefoot in my backyard as I don't particularly care for shoes. And I also run barefoot from time to time (actually barefoot, not "barefoot" shoes).

tl;dr shoes suck

omg the retardation
what is the "positive charge" in an AC sytem if I may ask?
>IRL the electric system only has one cable for each phase because the ground has enough capacity for virtually any movement of charges so we can do one less cable which is a lot of money

This. Grounding exists in this sphere of weird hippy pseudoscience that I participate in but don't take seriously. It's like the people who say sunning your asshole raises your test or whatever. I walk barefoot in the grass and lay naked in the sun because it makes me feel godlike, I don't need some weird basedence explanation for it.

> If I notice obvious improvements from some practice, I am completely unbound to consider what the science says on it. If it agrees with me, good, another piece of evidence, but if it doesn't, it does not matter.

this is exactly how I've approached lifestyle and fitness for years and it makes people seethe for some reason. People really do just want muh papers and studies to justify everything.

The thick skin of your feet is a poor conductor, and the grass is gonna air gap you unless it just rained.
Better to stick a metal rod in the ground and stick the other end in you mouth or anus if you really want to equalize potential.

As lifters we should be the most aware of this because our entire practice was invented without the use of science by people anecdotally experimenting and doing what worked. Every single lift we do in the gym was invented that way, also the notion of programing, sets and reps. Yet "science-based" is currently the most popular grift in the game. Funny how that works.

In fake and gay world, you're the product and ideas are the packaging you are marketed in.

"I have 500k followers and they all believe in grounding, which means they're gullable enough to march off a cliff! Buy my influence over them!"
The answer is to think for yourself and realize standing on dirt is as valuable to your betterment painting the walls blue or eggshell. It's all subjective they're trying to tell you is objective.
