The shifters, btw, did not need adjusted after installation, because the previous shifters had been adjusted perfectly. Still would have had to pay.
To be fair, I live in an expensive area. Do all my own work on everything (cars, home maintenance, landscaping, etc) despite my wife and I combined making like $350k per year because of this. Easily save us $50k yearly just knowing how to do things. My crowning achievement was when the furnace blower went out on Christmas morning and I had it fixed in two hours - imagine what that call would have cost.
