Are compounds enough for abs?
>>76275321 (OP)It doesnt matter because you'll never put in the work. If you really wanted it, you'd already be lifting and not worried about some arbitrary timeline.
If someone does tell you a timeframe you find acceptable, you'll go the gym then quit in a few months when you see no progress and then go back to making "how to achieve" threads with a pic of Gooky the anime character waiting for someone to "redpill" you on how to get jacked without doing anything. loser
>>76275321 (OP)compounds will get you there (along with diet), but are almost certainly not the quickest route if you are focused on getting some abs.
i have big abs that show even when im around 20% BF and i've rarely done direct ab work.
short answer, compounds arent enough
Yes, any overhead pressing, DL/RDL, Squats builds a very strong core. Your core muscles will grow along with everything else.
Do you think you need direct ab training to get a 5pl+ deadlift or 4pl+ squat ? Nobody with those numbers and higher has a weak core, assuming normal male bodyweight of 80-100kg and not powerfatties.
If you still want to train abs, skip all the bullshit like crunches, planks or whatever.
Do Hanging Leg Raises, Dragonflies, Windshield Wipers or grab a 20kg plate and do rotations for the obliques. Loaded barbell side bends are also very good.
I have clearly visible abs and obliques at close to 20% bf and i've never trained abs directly.
I can do Hanging Leg Raises, Dragonflies, Windshield Wipers for easy reps by default just because i have good numbers in the main compounds.
