What fitness program can one do to pass the physical

The firefighter test is all about endurance. Get a weighted vest and hit the stairmaster. Get to a point where you can do that for 10 minutes at 60 steps per minute without touching the railings. The CPAT only has you on the stairmaster for 3 minutes but you need some gas in the tank for the rest of the shit you have to do after.

This has to just be for cities. Have you ever seen a firefighter in the rural US?

A lot of municipalities are in a financial crisis because of firefighters who sit around doing nothing and then retire and suck up a pension after decades of doing nothing. I wouldn't be surprised if the job gets scrapped within the next 10 years.

It’s a nepotism thing so that doesn’t even matter, but then again I live in Southern California. Firefighters come and shop at my local grocery store and I have never seen one who isn’t gigantic. One was even some chubby zoomer but he was really tall.

Honestly the tests are pretty fucking easy and job is pretty cush because of how regular the downtime is but you need to be ready to change on a dime. Also the likeliness of cancer sits in the back of your head all the time so that's not fun.

I want to hate firefighters but serious fires are not a joke at all in the least bit. Glad someone values their life that little because I don’t.

Firefire fag here (dirty volley). Career guys need to be in shape. Fires are a small percentage of our runs but they require immense endurance and strength. The rest of our calls are medical (easy and boring) and motor vehicle accident (can be easy bit can also be very demanding and dangerous). So do a lot of endurance work and make sure you can move your body well. Also turnout gear is hot and does not breath so get used to high heat and 35 to 50lbs of gear. If you go volunteer most of your calls are hurry up and wait but once you get a big one make sure you are fit so your not one of the guys who dies from a heart attack.

Where are you? I'm in the UK and they didn't want me because I'm not a woman or Pakistani; but theres a dumpy woman at my gym who can barely lift above female starter weights and she's a firefighter. So I assume the physical over here is almost nonexistent.
