These online 'ideal weight' calculators were clearly designed during the golden age of patriarchy, probably by a chain-smoking white dude named Herbert who thought women should weigh 47kg, be 5'9", and silent. "Ideal bodyweight" is a misnomer, its a calculation used in medicine for certain weight-based drugs and renal function metrics. It has the same problems as using BMI, in that it assumes a sedentary lifestyle. It's a rough calculation to estimate somene's lean body mass, since for certain things your fat mass doesn't really count.

because they don't take muscle into account.
I am overweight by BMI standards, but somehow when I go shopping I have to tuck in every t-shirt I buy because there's just too much fabric around the belly and waist.

A good goal for you would be to take the ideal normie weight and slap on 30 pounds. This way you can gain 20 pounds of muscle and 10 pounds of fat and be extremely strong and mog everyone

Well im currently about 30lbs over the weight. But I just feel fat. Im pretty strong but I do have noticeable love handles, moobs, and a pudgy belly. I thought my ideal weight would be around 160 but to see 144 is kind of extreme. I do lift though so if 144 is only for sedentary people then maybe 160 is my ideal weight.

You should aim for 75-85 kg and do lots of MMA if you wanna feel like a man at that height.
75kg is victim weight territory if a taller guy who is 90-100kg picks on you it's over.

If you're aiming for some meme lean is law/aesthetic build you're pretty much stuck in twink mode for life.

Well I was planning for maybe 160lbs with abs, so not entirely too twinkish. Im not a fighter so idk if I want to do MMA. I'll try to focus on not getting too thin. At 5'7 i think I could look like pic related

You can't get to 180 lbs without having a beer belly? It's recommended for every man to do some form of fighting, any form otherwise when conflict happens you will freeze cause you're not familiar with it.
Otherwise it really doesn't matter if you can look like that guy go for it, if you can't fight for shit being 180lbs won't make any difference over 160lbs.

Id rather not live a life where im on constanr alert from a non existent threat. I feel like learning how to fight only places your mind in a fighting environment which then attracts fights to you because youre desperate to use what youve learned

According to the TDEE calculator my maintenance is either 2600 or 2900 depending on whether my activity is moderate or heavy. I’m leaning towards heavy since I run two 5ks and a 10k a week. Strength training gets my heart rate higher than running as well.

The discrepancy is big but I’ve been eating around 2700 for the past few months and have lost weight. Can’t seem to get below 160 unfortunately. I’m okay with it I suppose, I just have to build a lot more muscle.
