I did this 2 weeks ago. After a chest day, my chest and front delts went from sore to painful for 3 days. I hate getting injured, have had my shoulder fucked up on more than one occasion so I just didn't lift for the rest of the week
2 weeks off is pretty smart to do once in a while.
I coughed a little too hard so I skipped the gym to get better

Nothing wrong with a rest week. If you lift reguksrly with high intensity then you need one after a few months.
