3-4x5 squats as your primary lift on leg days is actually so peak

Works your entiee leg, leaves you just needing to isolate quads, primes posterior chain. Literally just do like 4x5 back squats + 4x8 RDL, and then blast isolations, doesn’t get better than that

It’s a good exercise but if you have deteriorated or herniated discs you should probably avoid it. Also if you only do squats you will end up with imbalances that lead to injury. I used to squat 495 at 190 bw and now I don’t squat at all. I bike and do leg isolations. I would prefer to be able to squat like I used to but it’s no longer worth it

Around 30. I was building strength and after getting to sets with 3 plates I thought to myself “this doesn’t feel like bench press, or even doing regular squats”. So I stopped doing them and surprise surprise it made no difference.

I long thought they were a trash exercise but then I realized they were a great exercise at age 35
