Wrestling culture definitely is a thing
I remember as kids we would fight all the damn time but wrestling, and had a no strike rule, unless it was kicks and only at other's legs as well, which often resulted in tibia x tibia strikes and contests of pain.
We actually held tournaments and picked fights with other kids around the neighborhood as well.
