They don't exploit this too much because it'll go to judge's scoring if all 3 or 5 rounds end without a finish. But yeah, some variation of wrestling or BJJ have been the meta for a long time. Striking is still very important cos you need to have something to rely on if your gameplan fails but getting the fight on the ground is plan A for a lot of the top level guys from some parts of the world

No but it would take him less than a month of training to beat a female black belt and if the male black belts are dyels like the average bjjfag is it would only take him a year of training to catch up to the male black belts.
If the gymbro is really strong it takes even less time but if they are in a actually good gym where the males train with weights aswell then it would take him way longer.
Average guy going to a bjj take 5-10 years on average to get a black belt but someone that is already strong would take 1-3 years to get one.

Not a chance and people saying otherwise are talking out of their asses. A female blue belt, maybe. But black belt is 10-20 years of experience and that includes spending a lot of time on the mat rolling with all body types, including, yes, big huge strong aggressive young men walking in off the street for their first day of class. By 2-4 years in (blue belt for most people regardless of gender) you have already choked different versions of that guy out many times over. By purple belt you have done that 100x more and acquired many more options for dealing with bigger people, from takedowns to leg locks. Purple to black belt is yet another five to ten years of experience depending on the trainee and in that time you are not really adding new techniques to the repertoire, but honing timing, off-balancing, strategic, and technique-chaining skills to become more and more effective when option A doesn't work.

Would you beat a female Judoka black belt as an untrained male? No, you would not.

Would you beat a female wrestling champion as an untrained male? No, you would not.

There is a really easy test if you want to find out if I'm right about this, or if a bunch of guys who don't train anything other than their internet commenting skills are right: walk into your local BJJ gym and challenge a female black belt to spar. For fun add that you don't think she can beat you because of her sex. You will be humiliated.

People who do train all know that even experienced people from other grappling styles get wrecked trying to hang with upper BJJ belts of either sex their first day of class. After a few months or years of training submissions it's a different story. World-class athletes are the exception and have their own set of rules - but you are probably also not a world-class athlete, so it's irrelevant.

Trained versus untrained always looks like this. "Getting ragdolled" is a real thing. Also happens between men. Let's address the first clip of the house party (girl with the white shirt) and leave the other two out since it's not clear the man in those is actually resisting.

Here is what you're seeing in the house party clip, broken down.

Girl in the white top is using what is called "pressure." She is setting the pace of the fight by taking meaningful grips. Her partner is not making meaningful grips but taking any grip he can which is why he gets fucked up (untrained people all do this). She probably has about 4-5 years of training based on her movement. That is plenty, as you can see by the outcome.

From the very first engagement she controls the inside space (note how she pummels her left hand inside his to deny his grip, switches to a collar tie to control his head, and then is able to set up the takedown without his hands being in the way to block her). He grabs a meaningless headlock trying to stop her from taking him down as she turns the corner which actually helps her, again, this is something untrained people always do--they take dumb grips and cling onto them for dear life because they don't know how to actually stop their opponent from imposing their will. What he should have done is sprawl and he should have done it when she was changing levels and not after she grabbed his fucking leg and the train had left the station, but again, he is untrained and probably overconfident because she's a girl.

She continues turning the corner, he is stubborn and scrambles/wrestles up to his feet which was tactically okay but strategically worthless because he did not turn back into her at any point and regain his control/posture and she simply kept turning the corner and eventually was able to take his back and mat return him (the second takedown), after which the rear naked choke became a foregone conclusion.

(cont'd) so putting it all together. She is shorter than him, weighs less, and has less testosterone. Knowing what to do was enough for her to set the pace, control the inside space, control her opponent's posture and take him down twice, take his back, and submit him.

If you think any other outcome is probable when there is a large skill gap, you are wrong and you are wrong specifically because you don't train.

Under the common western ("Unified") MMA rules, you can't kick or stomp to the head of a grounded opponent
In some rulesets (PRIDE FC rules particularly) you could, and it sometimes worked (gif related)
But sometimes didn't and you would get wrapped up and stuck grappling anyway

With no former training? No. We have a ~130lb purple belt at our gym who every time a new gym bro would drop in for a class our instructor will have him roll with her. Usually, she taps them 3-4 times in a 5 minute roll. It's a good way to weed out ego fags because if you can't take a whooping on your first class you likely won't last very long anyways because your ego gets in the way. Conversely, level headed people get humbled, see the "magic" at work, and get hooked immediately.

Modern UFC rules are an absolute joke of a pussified sport. You win by points by hugging someone on the ground for 15 minutes.

Early UFC and Japanese MMA rules is where the real fighting is/was.

BJJ isn't even the dominant grappling sport in MMA even though all the rules favor it, now it's all wrestlers and grapplers and honestly has been for the last like 15 years.

No wonder the gracies kept all serious grapplers out of early UFCs and subsequently got humbled in PRIDE.

BJJ is the foundation for all modern MMA and every MMA gym in the country teaches it. Gi jiu jitsu has evolved divergently and is a separate sport at this point but all modern submission grappling descends from BJJ and to say otherwise is a very weird take.

That's the case with literally every combat sport.
Try going into the Octagon only knowing how to box and not being able to defend takedowns or grapple at all, see how far that gets you.

Probably not
The exprience difference make a massive impact on the ground.
The man in question would have a functionally worse reaction time if he doesn't know about arm bars or heelhooks

This all goes out the window if he has his first white belt stripe
at that point the experience difference isn't big enough to overcome the strength difference

and yet all the modern champions are almost exclusively guys named like Achmed Kahlakanishkakov who trained exclusively in Sambo. Even with the meme rules that prevents 12-6 elbows from the top which obviously favor BJJ.

BJJ has been getting exposed in MMA this last decade if not for longer.

Not to mention how McDojo it's become where every strip mall has a Gracie gym, with no actual Gracie in it.

Basically no one on earth trains exclusively in sambo.
All those dudes train a lot of wrestling too. For example Makachev and Khabib et al trained at AKA and did a lot of wrestling. These guys mostly didn't start doing their signature move very much, the wrist ride, til they moved to the USA.

Pantoja is a BJJ black belt.
Merab is a BJJ purple belt under Matt Sera.
JDM and Volk have Craig Jones as one of their BJJ coaches. Volk is a BJJ black belt. JDM is a BJJ black belt.
Makachev is only a white belt in BJJ but he has Javier Mendez as his BJJ coach.
Driccus Du Plessis' BJJ coach is Morne Visser. He is only a blue belt.
Ankalaev I couldn't find anything about him doing BJJ.
Tom Aspinall is a BJJ black belt.

>>76315215
>Someone like Wanderlei Silva built his career out of face-stomping and soccer-kicking floor-rollers in PRIDE.
Wanderlei Silva, the BJJ black belt?
Virtually those guys who got kicked/stomped in the head while grounded were basically already TKO'd. The problem is in PRIDE the reffing sucked and they stopped it too late.
Go watch it again.
It's not guys lying to guard and then getting kicked/stomped in the head.
It's guys getting stunned and then it happens.
It is extremely difficult to kick/stomp the head of a grounded opponent who is not stunned, provided they're any good. They simply put their feet on you to stop you.
I can't say the same for knees however.

>>76314670

wrong
the three big styles of wrestling have you start some of the periods on the ground with the other guy behind you
wrestling and judo have ground game
freestyle and folkstyle you basically never stand upright. even in the neutral phase you're constantly going to the ground. basically every time you shoot you're going to the ground
even in greco they hit their knee often in the neutral phase, for bodylocks and duckunders

Totally backwards
Early UFC was run by the Gracies and was done to promote BJJ. And in this period of time almost everything was legal.
The rule changes roughly coincided with the Gracies selling the UFC and the UFC no longer having the aim to promote BJJ. And with a decline in BJJ. BJJ was the most dominant at first then wrestling became the most dominant.

Rounds harm BJJ. Restarts for inaction harm BJJ. BJJ is about gradual positional advancement, so restarts harm it.
BJJ prioritises getting behind your opponent. The ban on rabbit strikes hurts BJJ.
BJJ prioritises getting to dominant positions on the ground. The ban on 12-6 elbows hurts BJJ.

Sparring is playful and heavily favours grappling where you can go 100% and suffer little to no damage unless freak accidents

It breeds soft people who have never been in a real altercation before. When some heavy guy smacks his ham fist 100% against your nose/jaw you're either shocked and basically in dream land or youre in hospital

I know plenty of martial arts grappling copers who think the sport will save them or makes them le MMA fighter, but they have never been punched or thrown a full on punch at anyone. Yeah knowing some basic common sense such as "get behind them and choke them" is always useful. I didn't need bjj to tell me that, if you have common sense and fight iq you will know that already. I don't need to learn how to sprawl or grab someones leg for a takedown. That's just basic common sense

No you won't be fighting a Kazakhstani wrestler on the streets, and your bjj purple belt won't save you if you do. No it won't work in self defence situations because 99% of the time it's 2+ thugs versus you

bro wrestlers are the ones throwing elbows from the top, BJJ guys are the ones trying to get a submission while trying to avoid kicks

>Rounds harm BJJ. Restarts for inaction harm BJJ. BJJ is about gradual positional advancement, so restarts harm it.

Not everyone wants to see two guys hugging each other on the ground for 95 minutes like Gracie vs Shamrock in UFC 5.

Even BJJ competitions with BJJ rules have time limits on their matches.

missing the point award
the point being that restarts reduce the success of BJJ.
>bro wrestlers are the ones throwing elbows from the top, BJJ guys are the ones trying to get a submission while trying to avoid kicks
false dichotomy award
how do you even score points in BJJ? takedowns (getting on top), sweeps (getting on top), guard passes (done from top), top positions (kob, mount, back mount) and 2 hooks (can be on top or bottom). submission attempts depending on the ruleset. negative points for a guard pull in ADCC. that's about it
basically you score by getting on top, executing certain maneuvers from on top, getting 2 hooks (on top or bottom). and also submissions

Grappling someone whos grappling you *while also punching and kicking you at the same time* is a very different experience.

The reason what anon says is relevant is because people think that because their system is effective within a rule based competition it will be equally effective in a self defence situation where there are no rules. That mindset has gotten many people beat up or worse on the street. It is widely acknowledged the best martial arts for real world self defence are (in no order) muay thai, judo, boxing, wrestling. Anything else is better than nothing but if you're training for a sport you're training for a sport, not self defense.

I find it funny people think UFC is real fighting. It is no more real than Boxing, Judo, Bjj, etc etc. Until eye gouging, biting, genital ripping, striking of an opponent in any state etc is allow then it's just a combat sport no more real or serious than X combat sport and it is no better than any other one. It's just a sport, with rules and not a simulation of real life combat situation. If it wants to be then the rule book has to go.

I guess because it stimulates hugbox conditions where you're not longer being overly stimulated by the sensory overload of having to make eye contact with someone with music playing, you can barely breathe or see with someone laying on top of you so your brain stops thinking for a minute

Yes, easily. Grappling is 90% strength and weight. I (pretty good puncher with little grappling training) have won spars against much better trained women (or weak men, for that matter) easily, and lost against 2m / 120kg men with no training most of the time.
If you're small and weak, get a knife, or at lkeast learn to dodge and strike. grappling is for the strong.

Legit bjj includes judo and wrestling
It's unfortunately becoming more rare the more commercial it becomes and the layman only associates bjj with pulling guard and butt scooting, which a significant portion of practioners look upon with quite a bit of scorn and for good reason
Carlson Gracie and his derivative schools typically teach judo and wrestling and were black balled by the rest of the family for not keeping bjj "pure", for instance

This. Even if you want to eye gouge, are you good enough to hit a relatively small moving target with just your fingers? And if you miss just a little youโ€™ll break your own fingers.

If someone gets the spacing and timing right AND can hit their opponentโ€™s eye, theyโ€™re probably a decent striker already and donโ€™t โ€œneedโ€ to eye gouge.

Exactly. You don't even need fighting experience, just watch fight videos on /gif/, 99% of fights end with a knockout through either a punch or a suplex that happen in the blink of an eye. >oh yeah no wrestlers and sambo practitioners NEVER do that
Wrestlers never do back control. Back control is the name of a specific position. Back control would be almost pinning yourself.

What you're suppose to do from back mount in a fight is hold your opponent there because it's a fantastic position. Then you hit them in the head or RNC them. Wrestlers very rarely do a true back mount, they usually just straddle one of their opponents legs instead. Then they try to show their opponent's back to the mat. This is totally impractical for a fight..

I'm no sambo expert, but this is what I can gather. I tried looking up the rules but they are very poorly translated.
In both you're not allowed to cross your legs around your opponent, so their back control sucks, and their back mount is limited. I'm not sure if they changed this recently.
Sport sambo you're not allowed to even choke your opponent, so you basically never see back control/back mount.
Combat sambo is in a gi. The gi in most scenarios makes the RNC impractical (because you just go for the much stronger sliding collar choke), so combat sambo guys aren't going to have good RNC's.
Combat sambo guys are wearing MMA gloves and a boxing helmet. It is extremely hard to even get an RNC in such conditions, leading to poor development of back control and back mount.
I think the pinning rules make chasing back control and back mount not worth it.
There are some other minor points I have too.
I've looked at some combat sambo matches and I haven't seen any back control or back mount.
