How did the Romans get so buff and lean without any knowledge of nutrition, equipment or medicine?

>inb4 they weren't all like that

Yeah I get it, but at least SOME had to look like this, or the sculptors wouldn't have been able to make realistic statues in the first place. All the proportions are nearly realistic, whereas if nobody looked like this you'd probably see anomalies like Michelangelo's coconut boobs or weird steroid abs type exaggerations.

They were all based on an ideal. None of them existed expect in the minds of the perverted artists

wrestling, stonelifting, manual labor, ball sports, running, swimming, etc.
these guys lived and breathed physical activity. there weren't any basedboys with desk jobs or playstations. they were doing hard labour in the sun all day then going to wrestle with the boys for fun afterwards.
so
>How did the Romans get so buff and lean without any knowledge of nutrition, equipment or medicine?
because you don't need "knowledge of nutrition, equipment or medicine" to get jacked. your brain has been poisoned by modern sports "science". just eat and lift, don't overthink it.

That and they kind of did have a knowledge of nutrition and equipment and medicine. Roman's aside the Egyptian horse training manual that deals with warm up and cool down periods as well as nutrition for horses is a pretty incredible example of this same idea.

>Nobody was buff this is just gay masturbation material where they exaggerated muscle mass
They exercised, lifted weights, ate high protein diets, and did a bunch of bro science like eating a bunch of onions and bull testicles.
They even had faggots who would walk around calling themselves philosophers asking shit like "lol why do u lift weights u couldn't flip a bull"
And those faggots, just like today were retarded faggots who didn't know shit.

imho they're like the ideal of what a persons body should be, Alex Ross (pic related artist) actually talks about this and says how he considers drawing modern day superheros with that same philosophy in mind.

They were mostly all laborers or workers in some sense. Had lots of grain available to make bread and plenty of food available from a much cleaner ocean, and land animals a plenty.
Imagine all you had to do most days was move some heavy shit for a few hours, take an hour or so break for fish, dates, bread and cheese, maybe a little wine. You feel replenished and go back to work, reinforce your homes eastern wall, teach your son to wrestle a little bit, tend to your livestock and field. Ahh, such simple times.

Posts like this show how /fit/ is full of dyel larpers.

You don't get hulked like that moving stones all day, dumbasses. We have all those jobs still, in warehouses and such. That's only possible if you're specifically going for muscle growth...even prison bods don't look like that. Whatever method they used, there had to be some science behind it.

If you progressively overload to heavier stones and higher volume over time, you absolutely could build a respectable physique. Probably not that jacked, but I see no reason to believe someone who is capable of lifting a 450lb stone, which was not unheard of back then and would best a lot of modern giant strongmen today, would be small. Weight is weight.
Anonymous No.76318977 [Report] >>76320442 >>76320587
>>76318810
Sure, but that's an exercise regimen, and requires proper dieting, programming and scheduling. Basically everything people have to do today, without the pharma bullshit. To think that someone lifting rocks all day for a job, even really heavy rocks, would be able to grow a physique like that is completely delusional about how the human body works. And ignoring the fact that no slaveowner is gonna spend their money buying high quality protein for their slaves all day lmao

The Egyptians worked with stones just as large for thousands of years, and we have no records of gigantic Mr Olympia looking Pharaohs. Come to think of it, is there even a single Egyptian statue with abs???

Wrong. They were NATURALLY strong. Ever noticed how a bear never does bench press or squat, but he is much stronger than any bodybuilder? That's because he has natural strength. Gym is a Jewish scam to sell you expensive gym memberships while keeping you weak. Your body is not made to move like the machines. Free weights are somewhat better, but still very unnatural. It's all made to injure you, so they can sell you even more expensive medications and surgeries. You literally just need to behave like you would in the state of nature and you will be healthy and strong.

1. The idea that Romans, Greeks, Mesopotamians did not have any "knowledge of nutrition" (????????)
Is fucking pants on head retarded
2. They worked
With a few rare exceptions, horsepower, sailing vessels
Humans were the machines on Earth, if something needed to be built, people had to do it with their hands and simple tools
They worked

>How did the Romans get so buff and lean without any knowledge of nutrition, equipment or medicine?
They knew just as much as we do, maybe more, they just had a different scientific paradigma, ie. humoral pathology, scienceof the temperaments. Aside from that, they knew just as much, they had periodization, arguments about veganism and carnivore, weightlifting vs calisthenics and much, much more. With many subjects being much more in depth than what we have today, just in a different direction. For exmaple, I don't see pro athleets caring much about what the meat they eat had for dinner before it was butchered or what region of the country it came from. The Greeks and Romans cared.

My friends father was a stone mason, at his peak his was one, if not the strongest guy i have ever known. Eventually when he started to decline his body fell apart worse then the average person. Any sort of physical activity is going to wear your body down of years. Enjoy your days in the sun kids.
