They do not. For starters, they don't work your pectorals except for a minor amount on the way down if your form is perfect. Like I said, this will result in basic muscle definition in the upper body for some DYEL underweight skinny fat high school kid, but calisthenics alone will not get you there.

Have you retards never actually met anyone in the military? These guys do calisthenics at a literal bootcamp where all their food is controlled, their workouts are all recorded on PT tests, and they get drilled as part of their job. They're almost all DYELs because calisthenics alone do NOT work.

The only exception is the marines who, big fucking surprise, lift weights.

We've reached new levels of cope. I don't think I've ever seen it this bad. Let me clear this up for you because I'm beginning to feel bad for you at this point:

Calisthenics ARE bodyweight exercises. By definition. These use your bodyweight as resistance. These include:

> pushups
> sit ups
> dips
> pull ups
> muscle ups
> jumping jacks
> jump squats

The problem with calisthenics is there's a limit to how much resistance you can put on your body, because it's limited to your bodyweight. That's why dips and pulls up are the most effective -- you're maximizing the amount of resistance on your muscles by using max bodyweight.

Weightlifting is superior to calisthenics because you can:

> Focus on specific muscles with targeted weights
> Do compound movements at higher weight (Bench, barbell squat, deadlift)

Most importantly, you build muscle by tearing muscle fiber and rebuilding it. You tear more muscle more effectively by lifting heavy weights repeatedly. That's why you have to wait 1~2 days between worked muscle groups while lifting but you can do calisthenics every day. You simply won't tear enough muscle fiber.

What you're calling "weighted calisthenics" is weightlifting.

Nice try retard. I played sports all through high school and was in the army. I did calisthenics as part of a structured routine my whole life. I just looked like a fat guy with noodle arms. I had like a 290 PT score and was running 2 miles in like 13 minutes. I still looked like a pot bellied guy with noddle arms.

Started lifting in college. Just going to the gym and lifting heavy weight 3 days a week with a somewhat okay diet make me look totally fucking different in 3 months.

I got this big totally naturally. I don't even drink coffee. It's lifting heavy 3 times a week and doing cardio on my offdays. Namely martial arts, but also running. I count my calories / protein. I make sure I get oats in the morning and try to get green leafy vegetables with every meal.

That's it.

I've had no injuries. Sometimes I fall off the wagon for a few months. But within 3 months of consistent work I always wind up back in this shape. I'm 35 now and looked even better in my late 20s / early 30s.

I guess the reason I'm partially invested is my dumbass was doing calisthenics for years and it was within 3 months of lifting that totally changed my life. I got that information from /fit/ on the sticky. After trying to be a guiding force on here for years I left because of the declining quality in posting. I check back occasionally and am pretty sad to see it's still getting worse.

I'm not trying to bring someone down, I'm trying to be honest. There's really a lack of fitness knowledge in this thread. He looks like that because he's low bodyfat, so his muscles show. The problem is he has no muscle mass, so if he:

>has to help someone move / has to lift something
>Has a girl who wants him to pick her up / throw her around while they have sex
> is working on a site where he has to do manual labor (fix his shed, bend pipe, etc)

I'm 6'4.5 and I weght 187 pounds with a body fat of around 15%. My body isn't super impressive right now, but I've managed to go from 165 pounds (skinnyfat, 20% bodyfat) to 187 in a short periofd of time. My body responds extremely well to pullups/dips, and I'm well on my way to 200+ pounds.

Not only that, I olso feel that my body is lighter and easier to monoeuvre. I could easly see my calisthenics traning transfer into soccer/swimming/boxing/martial arts/gymnastics, etc. There's no way I'd feel them same lifting weghts or doing machines.

Is demonstrably wrong. Lifting weights is not going to ruin your mobility and it's going to be way harder getting these results with calisthenics. Have you ever seen a fat guy or a girl saying they don't lift weights because "I don' want to get BULKY." That's what you sound like and it's just as stupid because it's rooted in a very poor understanding of fitness.

Those guys who look huge? They didn't get that way on accident. They intentionally worked to look that way. You can lift and look thin.

That's simply not true. Calisthenics don't magically tear muscle fibers in a special way that's magically different from lifting weights. It's just way less effective. If you lifted for 30 minutes a day you'd have better results than from calisthenics.

I think getting noob gains all at proves you can increase mass from calishthenics. I am convinced that lifting is more efficient overall, but done right calisthenics can do the same thing, just more slowly.
I think pushups give me a better pump and hits the whole chest muscle better than any single lift i have tried.
Actually, i think the only reason i might get a gym membership soon is so i can do chest press and cable flies to really isolate them. I feel like some muscles lagging behind my chest when it comes to benching.

Steepest angle, i think, which isnt too crazy. I mostly just feel that in my upper chest. Lately ive been trying stuff similar to this for my chest/tri workout trying to hit my whole chest.

Only just started experimenting with dumbell pressing and dumbell flies. Db press hits a lot of good accessories. Not quite sure how i feel about the db flies yet.

The point is: I contend that pullups, dips and squats are enough to get you jacked. I posted this at the top of the thread as my first comment, so this isn't a pivot, I've been saying it since day 1. I said that it could be done, and, I've shown you guys that have done it, proving indeed that it is possible.

Then you came here whining and squirming that calisthenics can't get you jacked.

And now you're focusing on barbell squats as being the only problem in my claim. So have you cenceded that you can build a jacked upper phisique using dips and pullups?

This is incorrect. Calisthenics are, by definition, bodyweight exercises. You can do bodysquats an djumpsquats all day. That's calisthenics. But if you throw a bar on there with weights on it, congratulations, you're weightlifting. This is not a hard concept

You can't do a deadlift wthout the weights. You can't bench without a barbell, making them weighliftng exercses.

You CAN squat without weights, you CAN do dips without weights. And you can add weght to these calisthencs exercises making them weighted calisthenics exercises.

Now, you are free to disagree with this defnition of calisthenics.

But I and other calisthenics practitoners hold to said defnition. And accordIng to our definition, we beleve that calisthenics is enough to get you jacked. Countless people have done it, and I've posted them.

Simple as.

52.5 is the max weight and so I am already doing sets of 14 on incline bench. Scared I am getting into cardio territory. I would love if any of you fags know of a good routine that is built around only having adjustable dumbells and a bench

You can up the intensity a bit by going fast on the upstroke and slow on the down.
